6. More storage space for your vault
Season 17 also brings relief for all vault hoarders, Godroll collectors, and item nostalgics.
- The vault storage for players’ items will be raised from 500 to 600.
- The change is intended to bring at least some relief while Bungie continues to look for future solutions.
7. Old raids and dungeons will be made more interesting
Nostalgic raids in Destiny 2 have gradually lost their charm over the seasons. Although they offer great content, they are rarely played because they no longer provide top loot to Guardians. Therefore, in Season 17, Destiny 2 will introduce a raid and dungeon rotation to change that.
- Dungeons and raids will receive a weekly rotation that grants guardians top loot after completion.
- This will make these activities more interesting again, and also make weapons and armor from the weekly endgame activity easier to farm.
8. More effectiveness in the air and MGs are no longer useless
In Season 17 Bungie has planned extensive sandbox changes. The gameplay in the air will also be completely overhauled.
- Weapons will receive an additional hidden value called “effectiveness in the air,” which will affect accuracy when firing them while jumping and hovering.
After machine guns were heavily nerfed in early 2019, this will be corrected in Season 17. It seems the weapon class had indeed lost too much importance.
- The exotic machine gun Xenophage will have its rate of fire and damage reset to the original value, thus reversing the nerf.
- The damage of machine guns will be increased by 40% against PvE enemies and by 20% against bosses in Season 17.
- Both the “Xenophage” and the “Grand Overture” will receive this buff, but without the bonus against bosses.
9. The Crucible gets a bit more attention
It has been a long time since something happened in the Crucible. In Season 17, the well-known Rift mode will come to Destiny 2 and provide some variety.
- Rift is a goal-based Crucible mode. Players will throw a so-called “Spark” into the enemy team’s ” Rift” to score points.
- The mode will bring a custom map named “Separation” set in Savathun’s Throne World.
- In Season 17, the mode will be playable in the Iron Banner event, starting for the first time on May 31.
10. Annual events will be reworked and refreshed
Bungie has also addressed the events in Destiny 2 in Year 5. Thus, the first “Solstice” event will start in Season 17 without the name addition “of Heroes.” The event has been refreshed and invites players to the first “Campfire Party” starting on July 19.
What is the “Campfire Party”? During the Solstice event, players are to build a “paracausal campfire” in the European air zone. However, this is not easy, as you have to protect the flames from wave after wave of enemies. To make this easier for you, the location of the European air zone has been slightly revised.
Also, the Iron Banner is now officially an event, which will mean that Lord Saladin will only appear twice in Season 17 and the coming seasons. The first Iron Banner event begins on May 31.
- Power level advantages will be disabled in the Iron Banner event.
- Lord Saladin receives the new reputation rank system so you can farm more purposefully.
- It seems that old past Iron Banner armors and cosmetics will also be obtainable, perhaps even ornaments for old Iron Banner armors from Year 1.
What all events will receive starting with Season 17:
- The free “Event Card,” which functions similarly to seasonal challenges.
- Event challenges that can be completed on the event card to receive rewards.
- In addition to the event challenges, there will also be a Triumph Seal and Title for each event, as well as a new multi-event seal.
When does the new season start exactly? This list is, of course, not everything that Season 17 will include. Especially the new story content is eagerly awaited by players. In the evening of May 24, after a downtime, the new content will go live. It is planned that the Destiny 2 servers will be live again around 7 PM, so you can start the new season.
How much does Season 17 cost? Season 17 also follows Bungie’s season pass model. This means players will need to invest €10 if they want to play the content. However, anyone who has already purchased the Witch Queen Digital Deluxe Edition has already gained access to Season 17 and the entire Year 5.
What do you think about the already known information for Season 17? What do you particularly like or what are you not happy about at all? We would also like to know your secret tip: Arc or Solar 3.0? So feel free to let us know in the comments how you feel about the new Season 17.
