Currently, many Guardians are reporting an insurmountable obstacle in the Forsaken raid Last Wish. The gigantic ogre Morgeth turns out to be Destiny 2 as invincible. What is going on?
Destiny 2 is in a state of limbo: With the release of Season 5, Bungie has indicated that there may be unexpected issues that might only be resolved next week, when the Black Armory launches.
Unfortunately, an error has also crept into the raid “Last Wish” that prevents any progress under certain circumstances. Many Guardians are reporting on Reddit and also on MeinMMO about a bug that prevents the gigantic, misshapen ogre Morgeth from being defeated.
This is how the “Morgeth problem” manifests: Once the ogre reaches 50% strength, the game crashes. Neither switching weapons nor changing team composition makes a difference. Destiny 2 crashes regardless of whether you have already dealt damage to the ogre or not.
Fortunately, the creative community has found a (admittedly tricky) workaround.
This is how to avoid the ogre crash: Simply take down the beast before it reaches 50% strength. This is not easy, but doable. Set up a Well of Radiance, equip the freshly nerfed Ikelos shotgun (yes, it’s still the best choice for the job), have a Titan create a melting point, and fire everything you have.
You can also handle it in two damage phases, but you must incapacitate the ogre in time.
This way, you can take down the ogre before the game crashes. Alternatively, you can simply input a wish that allows you to start after the ogre (but who would want that?).
It is not known if the bug occurs on all platforms. At least PlayStation and Xbox players are reporting the issue on Reddit. Bungie has also recognized that this approach cannot be a permanent solution – and is responding.
This is what Bungie has to say about the ogre problem: Via Twitter, Bungie announced that they are aware of the issue and are currently investigating it. However, when a fix can be expected remains uncertain.
Patch expected next week: At the latest by next Tuesday, the problem should be resolved. Then players will download another patch that will fix the most urgent issues and unlock the Black Armory for season pass buyers.
