In the current blog post, Bungie discussed the pinnacle rewards and their impact on the power level of Guardians in Destiny 2. A lot will change regarding the power level next week. MeinMMO has the overview!
How is the power level currently increased? To level up in power, Guardians need to find pinnacle rewards, of which there are 7 in normal weeks:
- 4 from the raid
- 1 from the Nightfall strike (100,000 points)
- 1 from the Pit of Heresy and
- 1 from the Nightmare Hunt

Guardians particularly struggled to level up in power when they received multiple rewards for the same slot. Since pinnacle rewards were only available one power level above the current average level, some Guardians were stuck.
This will change next week.
Pinnacle Rewards: 2 Points Above Your Average Level
What changes with the pinnacle rewards? In the future, you will receive pinnacle rewards not just with 1 power level above your average level, but 2 power levels. The pinnacle rewards will therefore be more powerful.

As a consequence, this means that you only need to have 4 pieces of gear at a certain level to increase your average level. Previously, all 8 slots had to be at the same level. This change ensures that you level up faster, even if you should find duplicates for certain equipment slots.
When is the power level change coming? Next week, on Thursday, November 7th, the change will go live via hotfix.
Attention: Since the weekly reset happens before the hotfix, you should definitely wait until the patch before you claim or earn your pinnacle rewards. Otherwise, you won’t benefit from the changes.

Since the Iron Banner will also return next week, you should also wait here with redeeming your pinnacle rewards.
What do you think of the changes? Are they irrelevant to you because you are already at max level?
