On July 19, 2022, the Solstice Summer Event starts in Destiny 2. In addition to the popular glowing armor ornaments that Guardians can earn every year, there will also be a few changes this time. MeinMMO has summarized the first leaks for you and shows what Guardians can expect at the Solstice Event in 2022.
What is the Solstice Event? Every summer in Destiny 2, it is customary to celebrate the limited-time “Solstice Event” in the European Airzone. The organization of the event and the assignment of tasks to the Guardians is traditionally handled by Space-Omi Eva Levante.
Guardians will find that the Tower is not only beautifully decorated upon logging in, but they will also receive summer items to earn. Every year, especially the glowing ornaments of the Solstice armor are in high demand and the quite special cosmetics that are washed up at the Eververse’s Glimmer strand.
In addition to these known details, the developer has also made small adjustments to the event, which will bring a few innovations in 2022.
What changes occur in 2022 for the Solstice Event: Besides the fact that the Solstice will now have to do without heroes and will only be called “Solstice,” Bungie also planned the following changes:
- At the start of the Solstice 2022, the new “Event Card” will officially be introduced in Destiny 2, which will track your progress for all events in the future.
- An event seal and title will also be added to the game, which players can earn during the Solstice Event and beyond.
- There will no longer be any Solstice armor tasks to complete. Instead, players will now collect keys or packages in so-called event challenges.
- The Solstice armor will be upgradable, allowing Guardians to reallocate their stats.
- Additionally, there will be a new activity in the already known European Airzone: the “Campfire Party.” Here, Guardians are supposed to set up a kind of “paracausal campfire,” and it almost sounds like there might even be a horde mode with increasingly difficult waves.
Event Card applies to all annual events
When the Solstice 2022 has started, all players can pick up the new Event Card from Eva Levante for the first time. The tasks it offers will be similar to the seasonal challenges.
As long as the event is running, players will have access to the respective challenges and rewards of the currently active event.
- Like the event challenges
- the event seals and titles
- as well as the unique event rewards
The card will disappear again when the respective event ends. A detailed explanation of how the Event Card works can be found in the “This Week at Bungie” blog from May 19.
Leak shows iconic Crab Sparrow and prismatic armors
As already mentioned, for many Guardians, the Solstice armors are the event highlight. Therefore, a few dataminers and leakers like Elliot and entitybrother, who summarize DestinyBulletin, have sifted through the code of Destiny 2 to give you a first glimpse at the new armor ornaments and other items of this year’s Solstice Event 2022.
According to the leak, the armors are likely to be called “Prisma Sets”:
- For the Hunter, the “Phosphorescent Prisma” set.
- For the Warlock, the “Sparkling Prisma” set.
- And for the Titan, the “Glowing Prisma” set.
And the new Solstice event weapon? During the Guardian Games 2022, players were able to earn the SMG “The Title”. The summer event, on the other hand, is supposed to offer a sidearm in the typical event style. In addition, there are a few cosmetics visible that Guardians can use to send their Ghosts on summer vacation.
On Twitter, the community speculates, like player Gray, whether the obvious reappearance of the shown sidearm could be the sunset weapon “Better Devils”. Perhaps now a Solar weapon with a 120 RPM?
Event Sparrow is likely an iconic Crab vehicle: In addition to the Ghost shells and the weapon, there will naturally be thematically appropriate summer Sparrows again. On the one hand, there will likely be a new mini-Sparrow, this time in a car-scooter style.
This year’s highlight is already the leaked “Crab Sparrow.” It strongly resembles the creepy Spider Sparrow from the Halloween event. However, whether it will have equally cool moves is unfortunately not yet known.
When does the Solstice 2022 start and who can participate? Bungie has already announced that the summer event in 2022 will officially start on July 19, after the weekly reset at 7 PM.
- The event is free as always, so any interested player can participate. New players only need to complete the introductory quest for this.
What do you think about these first leaks for the Solstice Event 2022 in Destiny 2? Is there any reward you are particularly looking forward to, and will you invest a few hours to shine in prismatic glory with a new sidearm? Or is it too much effort for you and would you rather chill in a hammock under the real sun? Please let us know in the comments.
