No one would have expected this. It looks like you might soon be able to finally tackle the last step of the bugged quest “The Lie” in Destiny 2. A fix is indeed coming this week.
Many players are waiting for this: Many guardians are currently waiting for a solution to the bugged quest “The Lie”. This new quest went live last week and has since sparked heated debates.
Because its first step was initially so grind-heavy that many did not want to play it. After Bungie made adjustments, however, there was another problem. A bug has since prevented progress for the last quest step. So even now, no one can complete the quest and claim the new shotgun, Fellwinter’s Lie.
What Bungie says now: A few hours ago, Bungie Help announced on Twitter that there will be maintenance on the backend of Destiny 2 today, May 20, starting at 7:00 PM (German time).
There will be no downtime. The background maintenance is to prepare for the next update – hotfix 2.8.1.3. This is expected to fix the issue with the broken quest “The Lie” on the coming Thursday, May 21.
So there is indeed a relatively timely solution – still this week.
This was the situation so far: Until recently, it seemed like there would be no solution for quite some time. Because yesterday, May 19, Destiny 2 received the new update 2.8.1.2. But the fix for The Lie was not included.
Furthermore, corresponding statements from the community manager dmg04 suggested that it might still take a while before a solution arrives. It was said that Bungie has problems reproducing the bug on their end – even though all guardians on the live servers are affected. Additionally, the fix would then still need to be tested and certified by Sony and Microsoft, which usually takes a few days.
In short: The fix was not included in the latest update. Hardly anyone would have expected an update before next week. But it is coming after all – and already tomorrow. Why it turned out to be quicker than apparently even Bungie initially assumed is still unclear.
