Destiny 2 is well received by critics and the press, but what are the player ratings? We asked you in a survey how you would rate Destiny 2 and compared your average rating with the one on Metacritic.
For many players, Destiny 2 is great fun and finally the Destiny they wanted from the beginning. However, other players see the second part more as a remake or just some sort of DLC. The game is by no means a true sequel, as it contains too few innovations.
Destiny 2 – Rating – Significantly more popular with Mein-MMO than with Metacritic
We had two surveys regarding the rating of Destiny 2. One before the Leviathan raid and one after the release of the new raid.
- In the first survey, a few days after release, 1,712 readers voted and gave an average rating of 7.35.
- After the Leviathan raid, in the second survey, a total of 2,482 votes were cast by you. The average result climbed to 7.745. Thus, Destiny 2 is rated significantly higher by you, the Mein-MMO community, than the global average on Metacritic.
There, Bungie’s online shooter only received an average score of 5.9 (Playstation 4) or even 5.0 (Xbox One). However, only just under 1000 (PS4) and 240 (Xbox One) users voted. The status of the Metacritic rating is from September 18, 2017.

Destiny 2 – What are your highlights? What annoys you?
Among the comments in our survey, many of you agreed that the gunplay and the story of Destiny 2 are great. Especially the gunplay was one of the core elements of Destiny 1 and fortunately remains similarly strong in the sequel.
Some of you find it less cool that the loot spiral has become less interesting due to the fixed perks. The long grind for the perfect weapon was a special incentive for many of you to play Destiny 1. With the fixed perks, it has become less exciting for some long-time fans.
Additionally, some players lament the lack of long-term motivation. Despite the raid, there is simply too little to do in the endgame. The raid, however, was well received by many of you, although some find the loot too sparse.
