Destiny 2 shows new ritual weapon and other guns that you will hunt in Season 15

In a short time, the Season of the Lost will start in Destiny 2. Already in advance, Bungie has given a first look at which weapons the Guardians’ arsenal will be expanded with in Season 15.

Many players are waiting for this: August 24 will be an important day for Destiny 2, which many players are eagerly anticipating. On the one hand, the next major expansion “Witch Queen” for Destiny 2 will be presented, and on the other hand, it is also finally officially the new Season 15 that will be introduced, starting on the same day with the Weekly Reset at 19:00.

However, even before the new season, Bungie has revealed a lot of information about what players can expect during the Season of the Lost. This also included a first look at a new and several returning guns.

This will be the new ritual weapon of Season 15

What is currently known: The new ritual weapon from the Season of the Lost will be a rocket launcher (see title image). If we are to believe the corresponding official image name from the current “This Week at Bungie” blog, it will be called “Ascendency” in English – in German, that would probably be “Aufstieg”.

This new rocket launcher is traditionally tied to a quest and comes with the perk “Explosive Light”.

Explosive Light (via light.gg) is already available on a legendary grenade launcher – the top weapon Wendigo GL3. There, the perk increases the explosion radius and damage of the next grenade when you pick up an orb of power. Now, it seems the whole thing is apparently coming for rockets.

As usual, you will also be able to earn 3 theme-inspired ornaments for this new ritual weapon through Gambit, the Crucible, and Vanguard.

What is the deal with ritual weapons? Ritual weapons are basically a kind of weakened version of the former top weapons in Destiny 2. 

Top weapons were legendary guns that you could only obtain through elaborate quests since Season 3. They featured unique perks, and some specimens were once among the best weapons in the game.

In Season 8, the top weapons were replaced by ritual weapons since Bungie considered the top weapons too powerful, and in some cases, they even declassified exotic weapons.

These weapons are also coming back

Besides the new ritual weapon, Bungie has already revealed which old weapons will become relevant again in the Season of the Lost – in total, we are talking about 15 pieces.

You can obtain these weapons through playlist activities: You can get 3 fresh weapons in Season 15 when you complete Vanguard Strikes, Gambit or Crucible matches. These will drop randomly with “Random Rolls” when you complete these activities.

These weapons are available through the Prophecy dungeon: Additionally, the weapons that are popular among many, mainly due to their appearance from the former Trials of the Nine (now replaced by Trials of Osiris), will also return. They will refresh the loot pool of the Prophecy dungeon.

By the way, these weapons have also been equipped with Random Rolls and drop in specific encounters of the dungeon. They are:

• The Long Way (Sniper, Energy Slot)
• Darkness Ahead (Pulse Rifle, Energy Slot)
• The Last Breath (Auto Rifle, Kinetic)
• A Sudden Death (Shotgun, Energy Slot)
• Judgment (Hand Cannon, Kinetic)
• A Quick Judgment (Pistol, Energy Slot)

These weapons are coming into the world pool: The so-called World Drops (weapons you can find everywhere in the open world) will also be supplemented with a few refreshed specimens. These include:

• Shepherd’s Refuge (Sniper, Kinetic)
• Right Hand II (Pulse, Kinetic)
• Scathelocke (Auto Rifle, Kinetic)
• Annual Skate (Hand Cannon, Energy Slot)
• Evade Plan (Scout Rifle, Energy Slot)
• Spoiler Alarm (Pistol, Kinetic)

Is that all? Bungie emphasizes that they have not yet revealed all the details about the Season of the Lost – not even about the new Season 15 arsenal, which will be discoverable at 19:00 on August 24. So there are likely to be more new guns than just the ones shown so far.
