In Destiny 2, players had to decide an unusual duel: Who is cooler, dinos or movie monsters? The winner is now determined and receives some truly outrageous armor.
This is about the duel: On March 5, the Guardians had an unusual decision to make. They had to vote on whether they wanted to dress up as dinosaurs or as monsters from classic horror films.
Dress up? Yes, exactly. The armors, which seem out of place at first glance, will be introduced as universal ornaments, like skins usable for everything, in the game in 2021.
The Guardians only had two really unusual concept arts available as decision aids.
This is the winner: Okay, drumroll… the winner is determined. You wanted it this way. It’s not Team Classic Movie Monsters!
The winner is Team Dinosaurs:
Destiny 2 unleashes the dinos – Because you wanted it
Here’s how the race went: According to Bungie, the race was not really close. Dinos are the clear winner, it says in the weekly blog post (TWaB via Bungie.net). They found it overwhelming that a proud 200,000 Guardians voted.
In the survey, one had to select whether one plays Warlocks, Hunters, or Titans as their main character. Only a glimpse into the Titans’ minds was allowed: 81% of Titans want to run around as T-Rex (and only 19% as Cyclops).
But how the weighting was detailed otherwise, the Destiny developer does not reveal.
Here’s the honorable second and last place, Team Classic Movie Monsters:
When will the dinos come to the game? As mentioned at the beginning, these are universal ornaments. You can then give every legendary armor the dino look. If desired, you can also use it only on individual parts – for example, just for the helmet.
- The set will be available during the Festival of the Lost 2021 in the Eververse.
- You can buy it there with in-game earned Glimmer or with Silver (real money currency).
- In the past, the price was 6,000 Glimmer or accordingly 1,500 Silver per set.
- The horror event traditionally takes place from early October to early November.
What about the movie monsters? Anyone who has been dealing with Destiny for a while knows that Bungie does not throw anything away. Old concept arts or ideas often resurface years later: Images show that the new map Europa from Destiny 2 is already 5 years old.
In the TWaB it was said:
All you movie monster lovers, don’t be dismayed! […] There is still a future opportunity for these cool armor ornaments to see the light of day.
What’s coming in 2022? If you want to take a first look at what will be in fashion in Spring 2022, here you go:
This concept art depicts sets that are expected to come with the “Witch Queen” expansion. The Festival of the Lost was also supposed to take place in the next expansion, as traditionally the major DLCs in Destiny are released at the end of the year. However, Bungie announced that they would need to delay “Witch Queen.”
What do you think of the outcome of the duel? Would you like to have such opportunities for participation more often or do you think these costumes do not fit Destiny 2? Let us know in the comments.
