At the Guardian Con, Bungie revealed some small details this week about the upcoming expansion for Destiny 2, Shadowkeep. At the event, a replica of a new weapon was shown, which will be introduced with the Season of Dawn. The heavy machine gun does not yet have a name, but it has a great gimmick: its energy apparently comes from an old insect trapped in amber.
What kind of weapon is this? This weekend, the Guardian Con is taking place, where several developers from Bungie are also present. The Guardian Con is a community and fundraising event that was started in 2015 by some Destiny streamers.
At the event, Bungie also wanted to reveal some details about the upcoming expansion Shadowkeep and they delivered: A real model of a weapon was specially made to present it to the players.
The new weapon is said to be an exotic heavy machine gun that offers a rather quirky detail: it seems to be powered by an insect trapped in amber.
This is not the first model of a weapon from Destiny 2: in 2017, the wrestler The Big Show received a model of the Cold Heart. By the way, Big Show was also present this weekend and distributed raid belts for the World Firsts.
What does the weapon look like? Not much is known about the weapon yet, and it doesn’t seem to have a name either. It has also not been revealed how players can obtain this monstrosity in the Season of Dawn.
However, according to the model, the weapon is quite a hefty piece. In the middle, there is an opening where the ammo belt goes in. This is probably done through a flap that opens on the model and also reveals the “battery”: Behind the ammo belt is a device in which an amber is clamped. In the amber, a large, alien-like insect is trapped. The amber and the weapon are connected via hoses and cables.
It is still unknown whether the weapon behaves the same way in the game and whether players can also see the “drive” of the MG in Destiny 2. But with such a quirky gimmick, it is to be expected that it will also occur in the game and be visible in some way.
What else was there from the Guardian Con? Previously, there was already discussion at the Guardian Con about the four seasons of Season of Dawn. The first season will be called “Season of the Undying” and will not only take place on the Moon but will also bring Vex invasions throughout the solar system.
In addition, the first moving images of the new moon were shown. The story of the upcoming expansion will take place on the Earth’s satellite. Appearances will also feature Eris Morn and the Black Garden.
