Destiny 2 will take up a lot of storage space on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with the Shadowkeep expansion: Currently, 165 GB are expected. Is your hard drive feeling the heat?
Destiny 2 has never been a game that is economical with your precious storage space. Since 2017, it has been continuously expanded, which clearly shows on your hard drive or SSD. And Shadowkeep adds quite a bit more.
This is how much storage space Shadowkeep requires: As VGR reports, Bungie is currently sending out emails explaining the Destiny 2 migration from battle.net to Steam.
And at the end of the email, in the fine print, it states how much storage space Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is expected to take up on Steam: a whopping 165 GB.
How “big” has Destiny 2 been so far? The PC version currently takes up about 87 GB on battle.net. This includes all expansions and updates from the last 2 years. If Destiny 2 Shadowkeep indeed requires 165 GB, the necessary storage space would nearly double.
Keep in mind that this figure is not final and may be adjusted before release.
The current Destiny 2 version (without Shadowkeep) is currently listed as needing 105 GB of storage space on Steam – a bit more than the actual storage requirement of around 87 GB. Therefore, the 165 GB estimate is likely on the high side.
How much storage space does Destiny 2 Shadowkeep need on consoles? The PlayStation Store lists the same expected storage space as for the PC version: 165 GB.
Forsaken (with yearly pass) required 104 GB according to the store. With Shadowkeep, a lot more is added on top.
What does this mean for me? If your console only has 500 GB or if your hard drive or SSD is nearing its limit, you should clean up now and uninstall some old games before your Guardian journey can continue.
