In Destiny 2 there are fresh updates about Shadowkeep. A new endgame activity has been revealed, and the new Moon map has been unveiled.
Here’s where the info comes from: On yesterday’s Monday, the opening of the gamescom 2019 took place, during which several livestreams were held. Bungie was well represented:
- During the Opening Night stream, a cinematic trailer for Season 8 of Destiny 2 was shown
- In Google Stadia’s stream, a hefty gameplay trailer for Destiny 2 Shadowkeep was visible
- And in an Xbox stream, the developers talked about finishing moves, while surprisingly much footage of Shadowkeep was shown in the background – including a new endgame activity.
This appearance at Inside-Xbox is embedded here:
Finishing Moves, Nightmare Hunt, Moon Map
This can be seen in the video: Initially, Bungie’s Game Director Ben Wommack and Community Manager DeeJ introduce the finishing moves. These are new Guardian abilities that allow you to smash enemies once they have little health left. Each Guardian class has its own finishing moves.
Once Shadowkeep launches on October 1, all Guardians are said to have access to the finishing moves, as revealed in the video.
In addition, a few artifact perks can be seen. The artifact provides seasonal, unlockable benefits under the Armor 2.0 system, such as these:
- Bonus damage for all Arc melee attacks and bonus super energy on “finisher final blows”.
- Overshield and reduced cooldown when activating Arc class abilities
- And particularly interesting: A finishing move grants heavy ammunition to all team members, but consumes half of the super energy.
This is the new endgame activity: On the Moon map, there are several red symbols marking a fresh endgame activity in Shadowkeep. This is called “Nightmare Hunt: Servitude”:
It states that you must defeat the nightmare of Zydron, the Gate Lord, in one of these 3 Nightmare Hunts.
What we know about the “Nightmare Hunt”:
- It is a cooperative activity
- A fireteam of 1-3 players can play it
- It rewards powerful gear (at level 1). Presumably, powerful gear will feature levels in the future.
- The activity has various difficulty levels.
In Nightmare Hunt, you can select one of three “modes” that determine the difficulty:
- Adept – Power level 860 is recommended
- Hero – Power level 920 is recommended
- Legend – Power level 950 is recommended
These tiers feature different modifiers. Additionally, for Adept and Hero, matchmaking is on, while for Legend, you must form a fireteam yourself.
Thus, Nightmare Hunt is expected to be an endgame activity that will present a challenge for all Guardians.
Regarding the nightmares you can hunt therein, it is known that Shadowkeep brings back many enemies from Destiny 1 in nightmare forms, such as Skolas, Omnigul, or Crota. Some nightmares can be seen in this gameplay trailer.
This is likely the new Moon map from: In the video above, snippets of the new Moon map are continuously visible. A user on reddit has already taken the effort to piece together the snippets and thus complete the map. With this result:
For comparison – this was the map of the Moon in Destiny 1:
New Strike: In addition, the name of a new strike on the Moon has been shown: The Scarlet Keep.
