Today, on December 12th, the servers for Destiny 2 are down. Maintenance work is being carried out, requiring the servers to go offline. Update 1.13 / 1.1.1.1 is being deployed on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Update 6 PM: The update is live and carries version number 1.13. It is only 92 MB (PS4) in size. Here are the patch notes.
Already at the end of November, Bungie announced that one week after the launch of Curse of Osiris, another update would be deployed, bringing additional endgame changes. This is update 1.1.1.1, which goes live today, Tuesday.
The key times on December 12th in Destiny 2:
- At 4 PM our time, preparations for maintenance begin. You cannot log into Destiny 2 anymore. This applies to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
- At 5 PM the servers go offline. If you are still in the game at this point, you will be kicked.
- At 11 PM the work will be finished. At the latest, the update 1.1.1.1 should be ready for download and installation.
Keep in mind that the servers can also come back online significantly earlier or later. Bungie is not always very precise with these times. Nevertheless, today’s Destiny 2 session will likely be ruined for many evening Guardians.
What changes with 1.1.1.1 – What are the new features?
The full patch notes for update 1.1.1.1 will be published only once the update is live. We will report on this later today or tomorrow morning, depending on when they are released. – Here are the patch notes
The most important new features have been known for a while:
- Masterwork weapons: Legendary, better weapons. They show how many enemies you have killed with them, they generate Orbs of Light on multi-kills, and have random weapon stat bonuses. In the raid and trials, you have a better chance to obtain Masterwork weapons.
- The vendors sell weapons and armor pieces directly. They cost tokens and legendary shards.
- Xur’s offerings are expanded. He will receive Fated Engrams and a new form of Three of Coins
- Commander Zavala and Lord Shaxx sell consumables that grant additional rewards in strikes and Crucible matches.

Additionally, the Prometheus Lens is being nerfed significantly. This caused a laser show in PvP in recent days, as it was absolutely overpowered due to a bug. Bungie promised to rein in the Prometheus Lens today, Tuesday. And they are now following through on that.
Via Twitter, they announce that they had only a short time for the emergency fix. This will result in the “Prometheus Lens becoming far too weak.” A new fix will come in January that will appropriately adjust the exotic and has been thoroughly tested.
In other words, from today until sometime in January, the Prometheus Lens will be useless.
Important: Bungie is already changing more things in the endgame today. Thus, all players who do not own Curse of Osiris can again play the Prestige raid. Read all information about how endgame access is changing here.
Two more pieces of information:
- The faction rally, which was supposed to start today, will be postponed.
- The weekly reset occurs on Tuesdays at 6 PM since Curse of Osiris. Since maintenance is taking place at this time today, we will report on it later.
