As every Tuesday, players can expect a routine and scheduled downtime of the servers for Destiny 2 today. Despite the annoyance and frustration, Bungie continues to work on improving the stability and reliability of the server infrastructure. MeinMMO will keep you informed before and during the update in this article.
This is what you need to know today: Destiny 2 faced a massive server outage on the last holiday that caused a lot of frustration and long downtimes for players. The fact that players hate server downtimes is therefore no surprise.
Nevertheless, as Bungie also emphasized, server issues and downtimes are unavoidable, as the complexity of the game and the number of players online at the same time pose a challenge for such a comprehensive live service game like Destiny 2.
Today’s update, however, is happening as planned, so with early notification from Bungie, allowing players to mentally prepare for it throughout the day. The developer is also aware of the importance of smooth server performance and will try to keep the server downtime as short as possible.
9:22 PM: Update is live. On PC, it is 111.5 MB in size and you should be able to download it in the coming minutes. However, bear in mind that there could still be queues.
Otherwise, we hope Destiny 2 starts off stable for the rest of the evening. Thank you for sticking with us.
8:50 PM: The support team has found the issues that caused today’s delayed maintenance. Therefore, Destiny 2 will be online shortly. Bungie thanks you for your patience and apologizes for any inconveniences. You will also learn in the Weekly Reset on MeinMMO what’s new in Destiny 2 this week.
7:45 PM: Round 2 of the server downtime – Destiny extends maintenance again. However, not with a fixed end time, but only with a further hour of delay. The end of the downtime could therefore be around 8:45 PM – if everything goes well.
On Twitter, the guardians are also already warning Bungie about a “This Week at Bungie” blog from May 18 which states: “we take Destiny 2 offline for about an hour and a half on our update days, […] to make the player experience more stable and reliable“.
6:15 PM: While Destiny 2 is still offline, you can read about which errors Bungie has fixed in today’s maintenance update. We will link the exact patch notes at the end of this article as always.
5:45 PM: Bad news. Bungie has just extended the downtime. Apparently, today again not everything is going according to plan – what exactly is going on remains uncertain. The support team will provide further information in 1 hour.
Maintenance on June 13 – All times for server downtime
These times are important today: Bungie has informed players via Twitter about the exact times. The planned downtime for today is currently 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Here is the exact schedule for the maintenance:
- At 4:00 PM German time, maintenance will start in the background on all platforms.
- From 5:15 PM, the servers will go offline and players will be automatically kicked from all activities.
- The update 7.1.0.2 will be implemented during this time and will then be rolled out gradually.
- The expected login should then be possible again around 7:00 PM, at the weekly reset.
- The ongoing background maintenance will end at 8:00 PM if everything goes smoothly.
Additionally, please keep in mind that third-party applications as well as the official companion app may also not be correctly accessible for a while, so you may not be able to use them.
What changes with update 7.1.0.2 in Season 21
Although the full patch notes will only be available at the time of release, we would like to provide you with insights into some of the issues and changes Bungie plans to address.
MeinMMO first lists the issues that Bungie is already aware of and that will definitely be fixed today:
- The additional bonus for the weekly quest “Last Wish,” granted by Hawthorne, was unintended and will now be removed. Bungie had left this error in the game for a while in favor of the players, but will now fix it.
- With today’s patch, players will receive a deep sight weapon.
- The armor exotic “Evening Meditation of Radius” will be reactivated. Bungie has redesigned it so that it will no longer behave explosively with certain weapons.
- For solar gauntlets, the increased duration of solar grenades will be restored.
- The strange interactions of the Titan exotic Khepri’s Horn will also be fixed, so it will be reactivated as well.
- A problem where certain grenades could penetrate barriers and the shield of the Nightfall will be fixed.
- The PvP perk “Collective Action” will be nerfed (10% damage increase instead of 20%).
- The new competitive sniper rifle “Jumping Overreach” will gain a larger reticle when aiming to make it easier to use.
These issues are still on Bungie’s to-do list for resolution:
- Bungie is investigating performance issues when loading the “Everversum/ Store” tab.
- The “Recommendations” screen will only display during dive activities after the timer for completing the activity has expired.
- During the mission Operation Thunderbolt (Nightfall), there is a scannable console that does not include or provide intended audio, dialogue, or triumph content when scanned.
- Ranks from the previous season over 100 are displayed incorrectly on the “Journey” tab.
- PvP players are increasingly reporting an unsustainable lobby imbalance in Trials and competitive lobbies.
- The new exotics of the Season of Depth are not dropping from the Neomuna Vex event.
- In the Hypernet Strike on Neomuna, a player’s death in the final boss arena can cause that player’s ghost to get stuck in the ground.
- After focusing an adept Trials weapon from Saint-14, it does not show that the original requirement of having a 7-win Trials card still exists for subsequent focusings.
- The freezing while using the new Titan exotic “Thorn Guardian” can sometimes cause players to lose the class ability Barricade. Respawning after the player’s death or equipping and re-equipping the exotic will restore the intended class ability.
- The Courtier Longcoat chest piece for Warlocks has a hole under the right arm.
- Improved crafted weapons cannot apply or preview memory shaders.
- The cooldown timer for the exotic scourge weapon “The Navigator” lacks a description and shows as an empty timer when activated.
- The pop-up “Enhanced Heavy Knife” is not displayed for the Hunter exotic “Athrys’ Embrace” when activated in the Crucible. Players should note that it still functions as intended; it just lacks the visual display.
- The blinds of the shotgun “Until Return” are separated from the weapon.
- The exotic bow “Wishender” does not reliably shoot through Cabal and Hydra shields.
- The Titan exotic helm “Helm of Saint-14” does not function as expected.
- Using the exotic Warlock gloves “Escape Artist” to refresh the sentient Arc Soul before it is fully deactivated causes the rate of fire of the soul to decrease until it is fully deactivated.
- The damage boost of the Hunter exotic “Lucky Pants” is inconsistent and currently leads to a damage increase of up to 600% with special use.
- The change to the platform setting “Others can communicate via voice, text, or invites” is only effective after the game has been restarted.
- Error codes are still under investigation – including PLUM and MONKEY.
- Player name changes are not infinitely customizable via bungie.net. Several “number guardians” are still waiting for the option to change their player name again instead of receiving the message “You have no name changes available.”
Patch notes for maintenance 7.1.0.2 in Destiny 2
What’s in the patch notes? Bungie will publish a list of all changes in maintenance 7.1.0.2 in the form of patch notes. However, these will only appear this evening and provide a comprehensive overview of all fixed issues and improvements.
As soon as they are published, we will link them in this article, as things may still change.
Transparent communication and regular updates are also crucial in Destiny 2 to regain players’ trust and ensure they remain informed about the progress of bug fixes.
