Destiny 2 has prepared the first update in Lightfall, as Guardians are plagued by a number of bugs that need fixing. We’ll tell you when the servers will go offline and which issues are currently known that Bungie might fix today.
What you need to know today: Destiny 2: Lightfall is still not running smoothly. The modern design of the game still has its hiccups, so Bungie has prepared a long background maintenance update for today, Thursday, March 9.
MeinMMO will let you know when you can’t play today and what the to-do list at Bungie looks like. Despite yesterday’s preparations, the planned downtime will be very long but hopefully will fix some annoying bugs.
9:00 PM The maintenance work has just been officially completed.
8:00 PM: Destiny 2 is back online. Logins are working, and you can log in again. However, the background maintenance is still ongoing, so there may still be isolated “Destiny 2 servers being contacted” messages.
6:45 PM: As the servers are still offline, you can read through the patch notes. Quick spoiler – the changes made are quite brief. We will link you to the information at the end of this article. It will still take a while before you can play again.
6:30 PM: The update is progressing. Hotfix 7.0.0.3 is currently being rolled out on all platforms and regions. On Steam/PC, the download is 131.4 MB. Please note: Logging in will not be possible for a while after the update.
5:32 PM: During the downtime, some players attempted to log in and encountered a character creation screen. After a brief heart-stopping moment for these Guardians, Bungie reported that this is an error that has since been fixed. After the maintenance, affected players should be able to log in normally again.
5:45 PM: The servers in Destiny 2 have just been taken offline. Downtime has now begun. Therefore, you can no longer log into the game. Further down, you’ll learn how long the maintenance is planned for today.
If you need to wait during the update, we recommend this introduction to the Day One Raid this weekend:
Maintenance on March 9 – All times for server downtime
These times are important today: Bungie’s bug list is long. So far, the update routine has usually been short and crisp. That will not be the case today.
The effective downtime today will be over 2 hours (via twitter). The announced schedule includes the following:
- At 5:00 PM German time, the maintenance work will start in the background on all platforms.
- From 5:45 PM, the servers will go offline, and you will be automatically kicked from all activities.
- Around 6:30 PM, the update will be rolled out for all platforms. However, you will not be able to log back into the game after downloading.
- The servers will officially remain offline for maintenance until 8:00 PM.
- The ongoing background maintenance will officially end at 9:00 PM if everything goes smoothly.
Additionally, please keep in mind that third-party applications and the official companion app may not be correctly accessible for a while after the update.
What changes with Hotfix 7.0.0.3 in Season 20
What’s included in the hotfix today: Bungie currently has several bugs to fix that have crept in or continued with Lightfall.
MeinMMO will now list problems that are already known to Bungie as well as those that our readers have pointed out that could possibly be fixed today.
- During yesterday’s background maintenance, the API was offline for a while, so Bungie could investigate error codes, login failures, and queues.
- There has been a rapid increase in Destiny 2 crash reports for players on PS5 consoles.
- Nimbus’ weekly bounty for the weekly challenge at the Vex incursion event was not properly reset.
- Both the Jötunn and the exotic glaive Winterbite remain disabled.
- The Arc Hunter’s melee has also had to be disabled due to an issue.
- Additionally, the mods “Reaper” and “Dynamo” are currently disabled and not usable.
- Sometimes the mods stop functioning after death and respawn. Players noticing this should remove the mods and reinsert them into their armor.
- The Mercury Storm exotic auto rifle and the exotic scout rifle “Malicious Touch” have lost their 40% damage increase against red bar enemies.
- There is an issue where some player characters and weapons appear invisible after repeated interactions with the accolades screen in activities.
- The game may currently crash when players go to the “Travel” tab and click on the “Accolades” page.
- Step 13 of the Lightfall campaign quest occasionally blocks progress, meaning players currently need help from other players to continue.
- Player name changes are not infinitely adjustable via bungie.net. Players are still waiting for the option to change their name again instead of receiving the message “You have no name changes available.”
- Additionally, there are reports of issues causing players to encounter missing licenses, delayed silver purchases, or incorrect silver balances on their accounts.
All these problems are already on Bungie’s radar and perhaps more. The patch notes will reveal this evening what has been fixed and what still needs to wait.
If you notice any other issues in the game, it is recommended to report them directly through the official Bungie Help Forum to bring them to the developers’ attention. Alternatively, you can leave us a comment if you are aware of any other bugs in the game.
