Just in time for the beta launch of Destiny 2, detailed information about the abilities and skills of the new Sentinel Titan has been revealed.
The new subclass of the Titan replaces the Defender. Many perks and abilities have been adopted from the Defender. Bungie has fundamentally revamped the class to make the Titan more mobile.
You can still place your beloved Bubble, but now you have the choice between this and a shield, with which you can go after criminals like Captain America.
Destiny 2 – Sentinel – More Flexible and Useful
The new super ability is the highlight of the class. You can move quickly with the shield and knock out enemies, or throw the shield to overwhelm enemies from a distance. Unlike Destiny 1, where the Defender only had a stationary and mainly situational super, the Sentinel is now significantly more flexible.
Until a pre-beta event that took place yesterday in London, the Sentinel was not playable for the public. Consequently, there has been very little gameplay material available for this class so far.
The abilities of the Sentinel have now been posted on Twitter by streamer MyNameIsByf. Here are all the abilities known so far.
Destiny 2 – Sentinel – Grenades
The grenades remain largely unchanged compared to the Defender focus. You still have access to the Suppressor Grenade, which temporarily suppresses the use of abilities. The Magnet Grenade is also back. New is the Void Wall Grenade, which replaces the Spike Grenade. This grenade is already found in Destiny 1 with the Hunter and his Nightstalker focus.
Class Skills
These are the class-specific skills available to all Titans in Destiny 2:
- Towering Barricade: Press and hold Circle (on PS4) to create a large barrier right in front of the player, allowing you to reorganize your team while being protected from enemy fire.
- Rally Barricade: Press and hold Circle to create a small barrier that allows you to shoot over it while crouched. Additionally, going into cover will reload your equipped weapon.
Destiny 2 – Sentinel – Movement Modes
The various jump options remain unchanged compared to the Defender. You have access to Increased Height, Increased Control, and the Catapult jump.
Code of the Protector
- Defensive Strike: You gain an overshield when you eliminate an enemy with this melee ability.
- Turn the Tide: Your overshield from the melee perk Defensive Strike lasts longer and increases your melee damage as well as your reload speed.
- Rallying Force: Melee kills regenerate health for you and nearby allies.
- Ward of Dawn: When your super energy is full, hold L1 and R1 to create a bubble that protects you and your allies.
In contrast to the focus nodes for the jump and grenades, all nodes in this area are unlocked. These are only available in bundles. You must choose between this four-pack of perks or this one here (the perks cannot be mixed):
Code of the Aggressor
- Shield Bash: Use this melee ability after a short sprint to perform a devastating shield bash that briefly disorients your enemies.
- Second Shield: Gain an additional shield throw while the Sentinel shield is active.
- In the Trenches: Kills while you are surrounded by enemies reduce the cooldown of your super ability.
- Superior Arsenal: Grenade kills reduce your grenade cooldown.
