Guardians had suspected that Bungie would come up with a surprise quest like they did with the “Black Spindle,” but it was still an adrenaline kick when the hunt began in the midst of a rather dull content drought.
A player virtually stumbled upon the new secret quest on Friday evening, July 20. From there, the news spread like wildfire that a new secret quest was active in Destiny. Nobody knew what it was about yet.
Quickly, streamers and fire teams around the world set off in pursuit of the reward. That weekend, Destiny came alive and the community thrived. It really crackled.
This is what happened: A player has now come forward on reddit. Apparently, he and his two partners were the first players to complete the quest for the “Whisper of the Worm.”
He explains that he and his friends read about the quest on Twitter at the time and immediately jumped into the race. They managed to solve the quest, but they didn’t know they were the first in the world. They only found that out now, eight months later.
Bungie contacted them and told them that they were the first with the “Whisper of the Worm” back in June. And they were also given a gift.
