Destiny 2 hatte, laut Publisher Activision, einen „sehr starken Start“

The upcoming shooter MMO Destiny 2 makes Activision happy already. Call of Duty: WW2 also receives praise at its announcement.

Activision is currently reflecting on the first quarter of 2017 and is revealing the numbers. The CEO of Activision, Bobby Kotick, gives special praise to both shooters Destiny 2 and the new Call of Duty: WW2 in his presentation.

Both games were announced in the first quarter of 2017 – and the reveals of both games were, according to Kotick, very well received by the fans.

Destiny 2: Players apparently pre-order the “big editions” significantly.

Later it is said: The pre-orders for Destiny 2 and Call of Duty: WW2 have already “started very strong.”

Interesting detail: Apparently, mainly the editions of Destiny 2 were pre-ordered, in which the season pass for Destiny 2 was included.

Thus, the majority of pre-orders so far have been for the editions with “Season Pass”: The Collector’s Edition, the Limited Edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Blizzard strong with Overwatch, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft

Further observations from the Activision presentation:

• In total, Activision earned 1.73 billion US dollars, which is 19% more than in the same period of the previous year – especially digital sales have skyrocketed. It has increased by 50%.
• Call of Duty Infinite Warfare was rather disappointing compared to Black Ops 3,

• The number of “monthly active users” at Blizzard has risen to 41 million – this is mainly attributed to Overwatch . It had not yet been released in the comparison period, in the first quarter of 2016.
• Overwatch is now the eighth “billion-dollar” franchise of Activision.
• Especially the event “Year of the Rooster” has brought Overwatch new records in terms of the time players have spent in Overwatch.
• Activision no longer reveals player numbers for World of Warcraft, but in the first quarter of 2017, players reportedly spent more time in WoW than in the first quarter of 2016.

• Hearthstone set a record for daily active players in April with the new expansion – although it does not fall into the quarter, it is still mentioned.
• Blizzard has generated 25% more revenue “in the games themselves” in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the first quarter of 2016 – this is attributed to WoW and a “continued strength in Overwatch.”
• Overall, the first quarter of 2017 is rated as “stronger than expected.”

Destiny 2 is set to release on September 8 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Currently, very little is known about the game. On May 18, first gameplay will be shown. We will cover this on Mein MMO.
