Destiny 2 threw players into war with the launch of Season 13. But after the initial action, there was a stop and players are wondering if that’s it. MeinMMO takes a look at the upcoming content and latest findings.
This is how cool it started: In Destiny 2, Season 13, the Season of the Chosen, kicked off with a bang on February 9.
- To the delight of less lore-savvy or new players, there is a brief overview of the story surrounding the Cabal.
- Next, the following video presented the usually reserved Zavala as an unyielding Guardian who kneels before no one – that’s something.
- Immediately after, players find themselves on a battlefield and, “willingly or not, back at war with the Cabal”.
- Then there’s a flood of information: The new command center H.E.L.M. is introduced. In the base reminiscent of the Avengers, holograms at the strategy table speak with one and prepare us for battle.
- Duty sends the Guardians to the next battlefield, and one must get used to the overly complex mechanics of the Fire Trials Hammer and Umbra Engrams. After the initial shock, one is eager to grill Cabals.
This is how many Guardians feel now: The war against the Cabal has just started and suddenly comes to a halt. Many Guardians might be asking themselves questions like “What now, did I miss something?” or “Where to now?” just to rummage through the quest menu for the next task – without success.
Although the two battlefields can be approached again, and it must be done for seasonal loot mechanics, the good war start somehow ends halfway. Not even with a real cliffhanger but in such a way that Guardians feel stuck.
In Destiny 2, war is on week after week
This is how it continues: Cunning Guardians and Bungie themselves have revealed how Season 13 will proceed. The seasonal quest “A Challenger Rises,” which revolves around the war with the Cabal, is far from finished.
In publicly accessible databases like Light.gg, you can already view the quest steps and events of the upcoming weeks. We don’t want to spoil anything at this point.
- You will be guided through further, also new activities
- Advance the story about Zavala, Crow, Osiris, and the Cabal Empress Caiatl
- At the strategy table, there will be dialogues (likely with holograms)
- Destiny 2 explains the seasonal mechanics to you step by step
What about seasonal challenges? Additionally, there is a strong focus on the seasonal challenges. There is also something happening here every week. On Raidsecrets (via reddit), data miners have dug up what tasks and rewards await you throughout Season 13. Towards the end of the season, there will be fewer challenges, but they will be increasingly difficult to fulfill.
The missions are strongly oriented towards the weekly happenings and reflect upcoming activities like the Iron Banner or seasonal quests. Here you will also always receive upgrades for your strategy table.
A mysterious spaceship and the official roadmap for Season 13
These secrets are up next: Official press materials also reveal that there is at least one secret exotic quest. Data miners believe they can pinpoint the date for it.
On Twitter, the well-known leaker JpDeathblade shared some findings. The ornament for the new exotic will go on sale on March 16. The gun is said to be a “Tex Mechanika” scout. So in the style of western weapons like The Last Word.
In the past, this has been a good indicator of when new exotics come into the game.
- More about the new exotic weapons and armor: All new exotics from Season 13 that are known so far
With the new weapon, a mission on the mysterious spaceship is supposed to be connected, which appears in the last seconds of the reveal trailer (via Youtube) for Season 13. At minute 2:05, a disturbance and a spaceship in the darkness with an open entrance hatch can be seen. Osiris remarks, “There is no light here.”
It has something of the surprise mission Omen from Season 12. You can and should still play this in Season 13. This will secure you the Hawkmoon with random rolls and present a very challenging challenge.
Additionally, a new cutscene has been found, during which Zavala gives an emotional monologue. To avoid spoiling the surprise at this point, let’s just say that you will likely have to wait until the middle of Season 13.
That’s why it’s worth taking a look at the roadmap
Bungie has already provided a good overview of the upcoming activities of the Season of the Chosen. Through the official roadmap, we know about new battlefields or when the fresh strike is coming:
It looks very much like the war will continue. Just episodic, as per the seasonal system of Destiny 2. We can only hope that the confrontation with the Cabal will maintain the momentum of the season’s start without feeling too choppy.
How did you find the start of Season 13 – were you also suddenly puzzled and didn’t know if you overlooked the next objective? What do you think of the announced content that should occupy you over the next few months?
