Destiny 2 has announced its plans for the current game content in Year 5. Once again, the content vault swallows a location and various seasonal missions. MeinMMO reveals which missions will soon be unplayable and what Bungie will bring back from the content vault for you.
Destiny 2 is one of the biggest games played across all platforms. Bungie continuously provides it with new content, seasonal events, and annual expansions. However, to keep it from becoming too large and to ensure it can still be updated and maintained quickly, Bungie created the Content Vault (DCV).
As last year, some activities and locations must also go into the mentioned Content Vault this time. They will make room for new content that comes with Witch Queen in February 2022.
This is how the Content Vault works: The DCV is a kind of gigantic resource pool that contains Destiny 1 and 2. The developers can easily access any content from there at any time. This makes it possible to bring back Destiny 1 content, such as the Vault of Glass, into Destiny 2. Only weapons and armor are not included in the DCV.
These are the contents that players will have to forfeit in Destiny 2 starting February 2022:
- The exotic mission Signs (Season 13), on the infiltrated cable ship “Glykon”.
The mission, with its weapon quest, is currently considered one of the best exotic missions in the game among players. It offers the perfect mix of creep factor, exploration, jumping sections, puzzles, and combat. - Omen (Season 12), in the destroyed hydroelectric plant of the European Dead Zone
- Great mission for all players who have no problem with claustrophobic tunnels.
- Additionally, players will receive the exotic Hawkmoon there.
- The location “Edo Bay”
The hideout and black market trading post of Spider. It played a major role in the Forsaken mission. - The Forsaken expansion, the last stand of Cayde-6
That’s why this is not a big disappointment for veterans: Loyal Destiny 2 players had enough time to collect the exotic weapons in their personal God roll from the missions. For new players, however, this is certainly a loss – especially since both missions are considered among the coolest activities in the game.
Is there an equivalent substitute? Otherwise, the Destiny 2 developers are aware that new exotic special missions need to be brought into the game for these unique experiences. Old missions may also be revised for this purpose. Many players would certainly be pleased about a return of the jumping-heavy mission “Whisper of the Worm”.
That’s why Nessus is not disappearing: Players initially assumed that Nessus would be next in the Content Vault. But that is not the case. Checkpoint plays still on Nessus, and perhaps Bungie has more in store for this location.
These contents return from the Content Vault: Of course, not only will content disappear. Bungie has also prepared the return of some old content for Year 5. These will then be added to the brand new content from “The Witch Queen”.
- An original Destiny 1 PVP map
- Two Destiny 2 – PVP maps
- A classic raid from Destiny 1 (we’re guessing Oryx, as it would fit very well with the story of the Witch Queen)
- Activities like the location Dreaming City and the Vanguard operations “Battlegrounds” will be retained, as well as the strikes “Guardians of Nothing” and “Checkpoint”.
Forsaken makes a last debut
The expansion “Forsaken” is generally considered the best expansion Destiny 2 has ever released.
So if you haven’t had the chance to experience the epic story of Forsaken and the origins of Uldren Sov (before he became Crow), then this is your chance.
- From December 7 for free for all: The campaign of Forsaken until it is added to the DCV in February 2022. Players can experience the story, but will not have access to the associated content, such as the raid or the dungeon.
- Raid and dungeon only for DLC owners: To have access to the raid “Last Wish”, the dungeon “The Broken Throne” as well as the exotic items from Forsaken, a purchase of the Forsaken package is necessary.
- This is included: You receive three Forsaken cipher keys, which you can use to unlock exotic Forsaken weapons of your choice at the Memorial of Lost Lights (except exotic dungeon and raid weapons).
For those who already own Forsaken: If you belong to the players who have already purchased Forsaken, you will receive three Forsaken cipher keys directly into your inventory. If you already have all the exotics, they can be exchanged for Ascendant shards. (Which I will definitely do.)
Spider is getting anxious and wants to leave quickly
Has Bungie perhaps indirectly revealed to us the character who has to die soon? Is Spider the NPC that the legendary pistol “Spoiler Alert” has already “foreshadowed”?
This is what we know from the current story: Anyone playing the Astral Alignment can listen in via voice on how Queen Mara Sov orders her “Wrath” Petra Venj to assassinate Spider.
Of course, Mara is pretty angry. He not only brought the Edo Bay under his control – he also made the illegal trade in the Dreaming City flourish. Maybe she wouldn’t have minded that so much. But he also used her brother as a henchman for his nasty business.
Mara Sov wants Spider’s head: Now that Queen Mara Sov is back and reclaiming her city, he no longer has a safe haven. Spider senses that he must give up his black market trade and that time is running out if he wants to escape alive. That is also the reason why he is negotiating with the Drifter. He wants to be smuggled out of Edo Bay. This can be read in the “Wayfinder’s Ghost Shell“.
Now that Mara Sov has returned, I think my days here in the Reef might be numbered. …I want to know if you can smuggle me out of the Reef.
Excerpt from a personal conversation between Spider and the Drifter
Players are now wondering: “Where will I get Glimmer and destination materials in the future?”
Spider always made the best deals with us Guardians. No more Glimmer? Then off to Spider. There were the best trades in Destiny 2.
You’d never guess who’s taking over Spider’s trading: Bungie wants to entrust this task to the loyal Master Rahool. (He is the quirky NPC at the Tower who always decrypts your Primus Engrams).
I’m not sure if anyone trusts this sly and somewhat quirky Cryptarch Rahool to be a more upright black market dealer. This could turn out to be a bad deal for us.
What do you think? What happens to Spider? Will he manage to get out of Edo Bay and hang around with the Drifter in the future before Bungie closes the doors of Edo Bay? Or would you rather place your bet on Petra? After all, she is very quick with the knife. Let us know in the comments.
