Currently, numerous alleged details are circulating about the Black Armory – the first premium DLC of Destiny 2. What is true?
The Black Armory is the first of three premium content packs for Annual Pass holders and is set to be released in December 2018. Official information about the contents is scarce and very general.
However, there are currently some potential leaks in the Destiny sub-Reddit that could be particularly interesting for long-term fans and Destiny veterans.
What the leaks say about the Black Armory
There are alleged information about

- the story,
- new activities
- and the raid lair,
that are supposed to make their way into the game with the Black Armory in December. As always, this information should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism – these are not officially confirmed details.
Are exotic fan favorites from Destiny 1 making a return?
Return has already been hinted at: As we reported recently, one of the leaks suggests that soon two popular weapon exotics might return. These are
- the hand cannon “The Last Word“
- as well as the heavy machine gun “Thunderlord“
The exotic hand cannon is supposed to return with the Black Armory in December, and the MG possibly even with the Festival of the Lost in October.
New leaks have emerged on Reddit: Now another leak has surfaced, echoing the same theme. It also claims that Thunderlord and The Last Word are set to return – specifically in December with the Black Armory. Additionally, Icebreaker, one of the most popular exotic sniper rifles from Destiny 1, is also expected to make its return then.
The weapons are said to be earnable one by one through exotic quests. Furthermore, it is rumored that Black Armory will introduce a new quality tier of weapons – black. However, no further details were provided in the leaks.
What do the leaks say about the location and story?
The story is allegedly centered around a mysterious Exo named Gaunt, who operates the Black Armory. It seems to be about uncovering what the Black Armory actually is and unraveling Gaunt’s mystery. The Armory is said to be located on Earth, and throughout the story, players mainly fight against the Vex.
What has been leaked about the upcoming raid lair and the new location?
A new activity is expected: According to leaks, a new activity called “Forge of Chain” is said to be introduced, set in a new location bubble on Earth. This activity is supposed to be similar to the Escalation Protocol and the Blind Well. However, players will be fighting against the Vex and the Cabal.
What do the leaks say about the first Forsaken raid lair: The new raid lair is said to revolve around the Hive. The sources are divided on the location. While some claim the raid lair will take place on Titan, others suggest it might be set in the new location bubble on Earth.
How likely are the leaks about the Black Armory?
What supports the leaks: On one hand, some of the alleged information comes from Reddit users who have proven credible in the past and have provided the community with valuable information afterwards.
What argues against the leaks: On the other hand, this is no guarantee that they will be correct this time as well. And even if much of it seems plausible and possible – sources and backgrounds are not mentioned. Furthermore, some of the more credible posts have already been deleted – either by moderators or by the users themselves. Additionally, the leaks contradict each other in some details.
Moreover, many of these details can be easily guessed or inferred. For example, Bungie has already hinted in an interview with Game Informer that there could be a new quality tier of weapons.
The return of Thunderlord has also practically been confirmed – officially. And the three exotic weapons are absolute fan favorites. It would therefore be logical and consistent if they were to return, should Bungie introduce additional Year 1 exotics for Destiny 2.
What should we make of the leaks now? Just because potential contents are easy to guess does not automatically mean that the leak is incorrect – as evidenced by the huge Forsaken leaks shortly before the release of the autumn expansion. The massive leak was ridiculed by many fans but ultimately turned out to be true.
In the near future, the first leak will have to stand up to its claims. Because it was predicted that Thunderlord would return as early as the Festival of the Lost in November, although the heavy MGs are officially not expected to return until the release of the Black Armory in December. The other leaks will be put to the test by December at the latest.
Is Bungie trying to spark excitement among the Guardians for winter? Or is it all just hot air? Clarity may come on October 16. Because on that day, the Festival of the Lost will take place in Destiny 2 for the first time.
