What’s coming in Destiny 2: On May 11, Bungie will launch the MMO shooter into the yet unnamed Season 14. A few weeks ago, severe nerfs were announced that will weaken almost all Guardians’ favorite weapons. This time we have good news, as we now also know the buffs that will make your arsenal even deadlier and stronger in the new season.
The preview of the changes presented by Bungie is quite extensive, but in many cases, the buffs are at best mediocre. Therefore, in this article, we will focus only on the most important adjustments that you can feel or that have a significant impact on your playstyle.
Afterward, we will introduce you to 5 weapons with their locations that we already consider to be the winners in Season 14.
Here are the most important buffs:
- Linear Fusion Rifles: All representatives of this category receive +15% more damage on precision hits and +20% more reserve ammunition – including Exotics, as confirmed by Bungie’s Community Manager (via Twitter).
- Hip-Fire Grip: The rather ridiculed perk receives +20% to the distance at which the “stickiness” of the reticle applies. Additionally, the angle at which you can hit the enemy accurately increases.
- Iron Banner Perks: The properties on Iron Banner weapons offer strong bonuses but come with high negative modifiers to balance them out. These negative effects are reduced from -40 to only -30. (applies to “Iron Grip”, “Iron Gaze”, and “Iron Tendancy”)
- Elemental Capacitor: The perk now also receives bonuses when you use a Stasis class: improves recoil direction of the weapon and provides a movement boost when aiming down sights – previously, the perk offered nothing with Stasis. The Osmosis perk also works with Stasis.
- Subsistence: This perk has always been strong since it automatically reloads your weapon on kills. Your reserve ammo will not be reduced starting from Season 14, and SMGs will now receive significantly more ammo per kill.

The 5 Major Winners of Season 14 in Destiny 2
The buffs above don’t sound so dramatic at first, but they catapult some weapons into the top tier. Here we list 5 exotic and legendary guns that you should have in Season 14.
Sleeper Simulant: The exotic linear fusion rifle Sleeper Simulant has been sitting on the bench for a long time. In Season 14, that will definitely change – the Exotic for the power slot will make a significant impact in PvE.
You can get the weapon at the Exo kiosk in the Tower (Memorial of Lost Lights). The catalyst, which additionally increases reserves, drops randomly after completing Nightfalls.
The Last Word: The revolver The Last Word probably benefits the most from the buff for “Hip-Fire Grip”. Everything about this exotic is designed for shooting without aiming down sights. In PvP, you will surely encounter this stylish western gun. Guardians using a controller should not hesitate and get ready.

Needle’s Eye: The legendary linear fusion rifle Needle’s Eye is likely the best representative of its type that doesn’t require an Exotic slot. With perks like Vorpal Weapon and Auto-Loading Holder or Quickdraw, you have a real boss killer at hand that benefits greatly from the buffs.
You can farm Needle’s Eye quite easily in Season 13. Through the Umbral Engrams you will reliably acquire the linear fusion rifle. However, you can also find specimens as rewards after Battlegrounds and in the Season Pass.
Exceptional Performance: The new submachine gun from Season 13 has already become the star among primary weapons for PvE. The buff for Subsistence suits this weapon very well, allowing you to almost transform the legendary weapon into the exotic Huckleberry and mow down adds endlessly.
You can also farm Exceptional Performance quickly and purposefully through the Umbral Engrams. You also have a chance to obtain the Cabal weapon after Battlegrounds.
MIDA Multi-Tool: The exotic scout rifle MIDA is one of the most well-known weapons in the game. The Swiss Army knife of weapons can already do almost everything. The Exotic does not directly benefit from the buffs for Season 14, but its exotic catalyst does.
- The catalyst has been considered the worst catalyst in the game for years and its increased reload speed was almost unnecessary – as the reload value is almost at maximum by itself.
- The catalyst receives the perk “No Distractions” instead of “Outlaw” – so you flinch less under fire.
- No Distractions activates faster starting from Season 14 (after 1 second) and reduces flinch by 35% (previously 30%).
- You can get the catalyst in the competitive playlist since a while ago starting from the rank “Famous.” You acquire the exotic MIDA Multi-Tool at the Exo kiosk.
This makes the catalyst one of the biggest winners of the upcoming changes.
