For five years, the Destiny 2 community has been searching for a secret known as the “15th Wish.” This riddle was introduced with the “Forsaken” expansion and seemed unsolvable. But now, after all this time, we are closer to the solution than ever before. MeinMMO tells you what the finale of Season 22 has revealed.
What has now been revealed in Destiny 2: Five years ago, the DLC “Forsaken” brought Destiny 2 players the raid “Last Wish.” Here, the Guardians found a hidden room that actually granted them wishes.
- In total, 15 wishes were found – as revealed by the Triumphs in the game itself.
- However, players have only discovered 14 combinations through clues in cutscenes or in the game world since 2018.
- The elusive 15th wish has thus remained undiscovered to this day and has become the greatest mystery of Destiny 2 over the last 5 years.
But now the Destiny 2 community is closer to solving this riddle than ever, as the last farewell gift
of Season 22 revealed new clues about the mysterious 15th wish.
The current Season 22 revolved around Eris Morn and the resurrection of Savathun, as you can experience in this video:
The 15th wish has been considered an unsolvable riddle for 5 years
That’s why no one believed in the solution of the riddle anymore: The 15th wish was considered an unsolvable riddle in Destiny 2 after 5 years. There was even speculation that Bungie had simply forgotten it, that it never existed, was a bait, and that the curse of the Dreaming City would therefore never end.
Over the years, hope dwindled more and more that the 15th wish would ever be solved, discovered, or unveiled. It was forgotten. A few players then provided their own explanation as to why this is the case.
It was speculated that the Witch Queen Savathûn created the 15th wish solely to endlessly feed her worm. Because whenever someone sees through her plans, she and her worm receive tribute.
For the endless game to continue, she is said to have invented the fictitious 15th wish, which leads everyone by the nose, because believing in the possibility of finding it is effectively believing in something that never existed. It would be clever and effective. Exactly what only the Queen of Deception could have devised.
Thus, the Guardians have been searching for ages for a way to end the curse of the Dreaming City. By believing that they will eventually find the fictitious 15th wish, they fulfill the Witch Queen’s trickery and pay her tribute.
However, when Savathûn lost her worm in Season 15, some players believed this was definitive proof that it was impossible to break the curse of the Dreaming City or find the 15th wish. They thus assumed that the curse could not be broken and that the Dreaming City would simply remain an eternal “sacrifice of the war.”
Teaser for Season 23 reveals: The 15th wish is real!
Season 22 has now revealed the opposite: Bungie had long hinted that Season 22 is not yet complete. But for a long time, nothing happened.
Only yesterday, with the weekly reset and the end of the Halloween event, was the last secret of the “Season of the Witch” discovered.
- After the weekly reset, players received another small Arcana card from the “Deck of Whispers”.
- After finding the card, it can be used to unlock the last and most complex riddle of Savathûn’s “Imbaru Engine”.
- If the Imbaru riddle of the Queen of Deception is solved, a new cutscene will unfold, about which we will however keep silent here.
This last revelation has excited the Destiny 2 community because it revealed that the 15th wish may actually exist and that the curse of the Dreaming City may soon be broken.
After the first players had puzzled for several hours and succeeded, Bungie congratulated them via Twitter/X.
At the same time, the developer announced with a tweet the name of the upcoming “Season of Wishes.” This will officially start on November 28 and is the final season in the Lightfall DLC.
This is what the community says about the revelation
The mood was mixed: On one hand, the revelation was a great puzzle that was fun to solve. Also, the realization that the 15th wish, which was long sought in the Forsaken DLC, may actually be real, was exciting. Many also immediately flew into the raid to find out if there were new insights to discover at the wish wall there.
However, due to the recent layoffs at Bungie, some players could not really rejoice at this revelation and the upcoming content of Season 23.
- For instance, the player That REDACTED Guy wrote via Twitter/X: “Crazy. I would have been even more excited if you hadn’t laid off over 100 employees.”
- Just like Tall Nick who commented under the Bungie announcement: “It’s amazing how people forget how much they ‘hated’ Bungie just because a new set of keys was dangled in front of them.”
However, some laid-off ex-employees also spoke out and expressed their personal wishes for the upcoming Season 23.
A former employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, gave the user Zavallr permission to share his comment via Twitter/X. It read:
As a developer, I can only say, please keep playing. We may be gone now, but our work lives on. It is the best thing I have ever participated in.
this is the message of a laid-off employee to the Destiny 2 players
The player Xerochu agreed and commented: “Exactly. Enjoy the game. It makes no sense to hold a grudge. That doesn’t harm the people we are upset about, but rather the people who are on our side.”
Thus, he expresses that the recognition and enthusiasm of the community for the work of the developers should not be diminished by anger and frustration about this situation. Nevertheless, Bungie has lost a lot of trust with its players, and that was clearly felt.
The upcoming “Season of Wishes” will surely bring more revelations, which Destiny 2 players can look forward to. Despite everything, it could become a time of curiosity and optimism, where players have the chance to finally discover the truth behind one of the biggest mysteries of the game and the Forsaken DLC.
The other question is whether one still wants this in light of the problems at Bungie and the general disappointment with the game.
What do you think? How does the revelation about the truth and the 15th wish affect your view of the game and its developer? We are looking forward to your opinion in the comments.
Bungie has already admitted that they have lost much trust and will reveal how it will proceed
