The Witcherthat will be released in Season 23.
Season 23 marks the end of an era: The new “Season of the Wish” is not only the last season in Lightfall. It also marks the end of an era in Destiny 2. Because in the upcoming DLC “The Final Shape”, Bungie will replace its well-known seasons with episodes.
Moreover, Season 23 could be the longest season in Destiny 2’s history, as “The Final Shape”, the last DLC, is said to be delayed by three months according to insiders. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed by Bungie.
The final season will definitely be exciting, as it is expected to bring back an intriguing mystery from Forsaken that has never been resolved before. Additionally, it will pave the way for the further development of the story of Destiny 2 surrounding the final battle to save the universe.
MeinMMO tells you what is already known about Season 23 and what you can look forward to.
All you need to know about Season 23 of Destiny 2
When does Season 23 start? New content like seasons or expansions in Destiny 2 always launches on Tuesdays with the weekly reset. This will also be the case with Season 23. It starts on November 28 at 6:00 PM German time.
The name of the new season is already set. When the community managed to solve the last riddle of the Imbaru Engine, it led to a surprising cutscene that gave a glimpse of the upcoming events and concluded Season 22.
Shortly thereafter, the official Twitter account of Destiny 2 revealed the name of the last Lightfall season: “Season of the Wish”.
What content does Season 23 offer?
New armors and weapons: On November 21, Bungie showed off an initial armor set that will come in Season 23. It revealed a collaboration between Destiny 2 and The Witcher.
What can Guardians expect in PvE? First of all, Bungie will continue the ongoing Lightfall story in its “Season of the Wish”.
- The Guardians are still searching for the Witness, who is currently inside the Traveler and is preparing the downfall of the known universe. However, there is currently no safe way for the Vanguard to follow him. Perhaps an egg and the mysterious 15th wish will change this.
In each season, there is also either a new dungeon or a new/repeated raid to experience in PvE.
Whether there will be any changes to the event activities is still not known. However, what is almost certain is that there will be new cosmetics, as well as armor and weapons to earn during the events.
These Quality-of-Life updates are coming in Season 23
New Fireteam Finder brings players together: The most outstanding Quality-of-Life update in Season 23 will be the “Fireteam Finder”.
It will allow players to team up for any activity without needing to search for players. This includes raids.
- The tool will offer the option to label LFG searches with simple terms to describe what kind of group you are leading or which people you want to recruit.
- You will also have the option to automatically create joinable groups so you can get active right away.
- Groups can also be created, and the creator can approve or deny anyone trying to join. This is intended to give you strict control over what kind of group you are assembling.
Weapon Master Focus: In Season 23, Weapon Master Banshee-44 will join other NPCs and offer targeted focus of his loot.
- At the start of Season 23, the forge weapons from Häkke, Omolon, Suros, and Veist will be available to you.
- More weapons will be added with future updates.
Say goodbye to Legendary Shards: The Legendary Shards, the currency that players have known since the launch of the loot shooter, will soon be completely removed from the game with the launch of “The Final Shape”.
- Weapons and armor can soon only be purchased with Glimmer and Engrams. Previously, purchases with Legendary Shards were possible.
Part 1 of this change will already start in Season 23.
- All costs for Legendary Shards in the Monument of Lost Lights will be removed in Season 23. The costs for Glimmer, Exotic Engrams, and Conquest Loot will all remain the same, only the costs for Legendary Shards will change.
- Secondly, focusing non-masters starting Season 23 will only cost ritual engrams and Glimmer. Focusing master weapons will still require seven trials passes or Nightfall Engrams.
For example:
- At Hawthorne, buy 10 Raid Banners for 30 Legendary Shards
- At Master Rahool, exchange 5 upgrade cores per day for 30 Legendary Shards, 3 enhancement prisms or 1 Ascendant Alloy per week for 400 Legendary Shards.
- You can also get rid of shards on the Moon. 1 Illusive Fragment will cost you 10 Legendary Shards there. After Season 23 begins, you can exchange 10 Illusive Fragments for 10,000 Glimmer.
Storage access from orbit: The upcoming change to access the vault will be useful in Season 23. Currently, many players still use third-party apps to transfer their items to their characters when they are in orbit.
However, after the change, you will be able to access your vault directly in the game, even if you are in orbit with your fireteam. This will allow for quick access to your items.
Changes to Stasis: Bungie also mentioned that there will be “changes” to Stasis artifact mods and Stasis abilities in Season 23. However, nothing specific is known about this yet. We wanted to mention it anyway and will add more information here as soon as more becomes known.
What do you think? How will the story continue? And what do you think of the changes presented so far for Season 23? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
The current crisis at Bungie will also determine the quality of Season 23: Destiny 2: “We know we have lost a lot of your trust” – Here’s how it will continue
In the previous “Season of the Witch”, players could relive the legacy raid “Crota’s End”. Therefore, a new dungeon will be available in the upcoming season, which will join the already seven active dungeons.
When does the new dungeon in Season 23 start? The dungeon will launch on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 6 PM German time.
Once the dungeon is live, players will have the opportunity to earn new legendary armor and weapon sets in the activity, as well as a new exotic weapon.
What does Season 23 and the dungeon cost? To access Season 23 and the latest dungeon in Destiny 2, you need either the Deluxe Edition of the Lightfall DLC, which includes everything.
However, if you only have the Standard Version of the Lightfall DLC, you have to purchase Season 23 and the dungeon separately.
- Season 23 will cost 1,200 Silver in the Eververse store. Anyone who wants to play it will have to buy 1500 Silver (14.99 euros) right away, as there is no suitable Silver deal for it.
- The “Dungeon Key” for “Lightfall” will be sold in the Eververse store for 2000 Silver (19.99 euros) and will include access to both DLC dungeons. A single purchase is not possible.
What can Guardians expect in PvP? The newly established PvP team is currently working on solutions for the long-neglected PvP to bring players a better experience again.
It has been announced that Bungie’s goal is to steer the Crucible in a direction that satisfies the most dedicated PvP players.
This also means staying committed to the plan to continue bringing both old and new maps into the Crucible rotation.
- In Season 22, this was a brand new Vex map called “Multiplex”.
- In Season 23, you can look forward to the return of the Dreaming City map “Citadel”.
In addition, Bungie has also been working on tuning the PvP. In addition to changes to the modes and rotations, Bungie has further tweaked the Checkmate, matchmaking, spawn points, and competitive changes for Season 23.
Furthermore, Bungie will make a PvP bug in Iron Banner a permanent feature in Season 23:
These free events are coming in Season 23: The new “Season of the Wish” will definitely include the winter event “The Dawning”. Players will again bake cookies and deliver them to NPCs who will thank them with small gifts.
If it is confirmed that Bungie is delaying its upcoming DLC “The Final Shape”, then other events might also fall into the period of Season 23 of Destiny 2.
- Some players expressed the suspicion that Bungie might revive its old Valentine’s Day event, the “Crimson Days”, in February to fill the excessively long Season 23 with content.
It is also possible that the spring event of Destiny 2, the “Guardian Games”, will start in Season 23. However, this depends on how long the delay will be. The Guardian Games usually take place between April and May.
Whether there will be any changes to the event activities is still not known. However, what is almost certain is that there will be new cosmetics, as well as armor and weapons to earn during the events.
