In Destiny 2, the new DLC brings a lack of loot. Developer Bungie is now beginning to combat this. Players should feel the first effects as early as next week – but is that enough?
This is currently the main problem: On November 10, Destiny 2 began Year 4 and received its major annual expansion with Beyond Light. Moreover, the new Season 12, the Season of the Hunt, has also started.
However, players of the action MMO are primarily lacking one thing – namely loot.
Due to all the changes, the new story, the new Stasis abilities, and fresh locations, Destiny 2 has shrunk significantly and sends more weapons into retirement than new ones are introduced.
Many players suspected that this could lead to problems and are now quite angry about the realization. The Destiny developer has promised improvements, and we will see the beginning of that as early as next week.
The first steps in the fight against loot poverty begin
Community Manager Dylan “dmg04” Gaffner and Destiny head Luke Smith have already commented on the loot issues. They clarify that Bungie is working on the problem, but that they are in the middle of a transition phase and plan to make larger changes season by season.
This is happening next week: On November 24, a new update for Destiny 2 will be released: the hotfix 3.0.0.4. Bungie has already previewed the content, which will bring the first changes to weapon variety.
- All legendary weapons going into retirement at the end of Season 12 (infusion cap) will disappear from the loot pool
- All Seventh Seraph weapons from Season 10 will be newly added – they were previously available through Rasputin and the corresponding season pass
- The legendary arsenal of weapons from Season of Arrival will return – this applies to the season pass weapons and the updated planetary weapons from Season 11
- The newer an item is, the more likely it is to drop as a reward
The presented changes affect the world loot pool. These are all rewards that you receive, for example, from engrams or directly upon completing activities.
How should the loot changes be judged?
Well, as Bungie itself says, these are initial, smaller changes. They will certainly not silence the main critics.
Even though there are now newer and, above all, a few more weapons to loot in the world, they are still not new firearms. Furthermore, it is questionable for many why there are items in the loot pool that are set to expire at the end of Season 12.
It is very encouraging that Bungie has significantly increased their update and fix frequency. Whereas Guardians used to wait months for an adjustment, these now come within days. These weapons are worth it: However, the added guns are definitely noteworthy and are must-haves, especially for returners or newcomers:
- The Seraph shotgun and the Seraph machine gun are absolute top weapons – and visually, these guns are eye-catchers
- It is also worth noting that these weapons can create Warmind Cells – and since Season 12, Guardians have a specific mod slot for that on all armor (including Exotics)
- If Bungie makes popular weapons like the Fallen Guillotine or other guns from Season 11 accessible again, it can’t be wrong – after all, they wanted to reduce the FOMO aspect
