Bungie has a new plan on how to not scare away newcomers and returning players in Destiny 2 and that is an adjustment of the destination materials. We will show you what the developers are planning.
What is the problem with planetary materials? In Destiny 2, there are planetary materials that players need for their daily activities in the Tower. While long-time Guardians sit on a mountain of materials, many newcomers lose track of them.
Bungie is aware of this, which is why the team wants to accommodate new Guardians. To create more clarity and ensure that players only focus on the essentials, the remaining planetary materials will be made obsolete. We will show you how Bungie will do this.
What are planetary materials?
Already in Destiny 1, planetary materials were an important resource that players had to collect. For certain purchases at vendors, as well as upgrading your weapons, these materials were essential. Many players used to meet in patrol zones to farm the spawn points of the individual resources together. In Destiny 2, however, these materials resembled a rudimentary relic from the old days. They were often unnecessary and are now mainly exchanged at the Cryptarch for Glimmer and upgrade materials.
In Season 19, everything will be clearer
Bungie has met with its Economic Team to find out how to better introduce the game to new Lights without overwhelming them. An important point is indeed these materials. There currently exist too many resources that either slow down players on their journey or even overwhelm them.
For this reason, the team will change all known planetary elements at the start of Season 19. You will no longer be able to pick them up in your inventory, but will only be able to interact with them. This will make it clearer for new Lights which materials in their inventory are useful and can be used.
What will happen to the materials in my inventory? Bungie has also made provisions for long-time players because they know some of you are collectors. In Season 19, you can exchange all your collected materials with Rahool, the Cryptarch in the Tower, for Glimmer.
- 20 elements give you 5,000 Glimmer
- 1 element will be sold for 250 Glimmer
Additionally, Rahool will no longer sell any elements. You can only buy his entire stock with Glimmer or legendary shards. To continue providing Guardians with more Glimmer, public events in patrol zones will reward you with more currency.
- Heroic events will give you between 10,000 and 12,500 Glimmer
- Normal events will only give you between 3,300 and 4,646 Glimmer
With this, Bungie wants to draw more attention to the destinations so that these locations come to life and are visited by Guardians. The monument to the lost Lights will also be adjusted, as well as Failsafe on Nessus and Devrim in the EDZ. The two old vendors will receive a new inventory and more bounties.
Lastly, you can still collect resources on the various planets, but they will only grant you XP and reputation rank. Just as Savathun’s Throne World did with its materials.
What do you think of the upcoming changes in Season 19? Do you think they are good, or will you miss your materials that you have collected over the years? Let us know in the comments!
