This Exotic will be disabled soon: The linear fusion rifle Lorentz Driver will soon be partially disabled. This was announced by Community Manager Dylan “dmg04” Gaffer (via Twitter).
The new exotic weapon from the Season Pass marks random enemies and they can be seen through walls.
- In PvE it’s cool, as you should hunt the marked targets to deal extra damage.
- In PvP, however, it’s not cool, as without doing anything, you can exactly see where enemies are – even through walls.
Since Guardians have complained about this, Gaffer states that this tracking will soon be disabled in PvP. However, there is currently no date for this hotfix.
What do you think about the lockdowns in Season 15 – completely justified because the Exotics break the game? Or are you more frustrated with Bungie, who could have tested this and shouldn’t just throw it at the Guardians? Let us know in the comments.
In Destiny 2, Season 15 is only a few days old, and Bungie has already disabled 2 Exotics. The next deactivation of the 3rd Exotic is also confirmed. We will tell you which items you cannot equip and why.
It feels cursed: A new season has started in Destiny 2, and Bungie already has to disable Exotics. Such lockdowns unfortunately have a somewhat sad tradition and this continues in the Season of the Lost which started on August 24th.
Bungie pulls the deactivation card very quickly when either massive advantages are gained in battles against real players, when one exploits current endgame content, or when it comes to faster progress in the real-money shop – two of the reasons are present in Season 15.
These Exotics have been disabled:
- Radiant Dance Machines: the exotic boots for Hunters are brand new in Season 15 of Destiny 2 – they have been disabled for the Crucible (PvP) and Gambit (PvEvP).
- Wormgod Caress: the exotic gloves for Titans have been in the game since 2018 and are completely locked.
This means you cannot equip the Exotic armors at the moment; they will simply be grayed out. You will then receive the message in-game: “This item is currently unavailable.”
This is what Bungie says about it: Bungie announced the lockdown of the two Exotics on the night of August 28 via Twitter. Both lockouts are temporary until Bungie finds a fix for the item problems.
The “Radiant Dance Machines” allow Hunters to unintentionally dodge multiple times in a row due to a bug (via Twitter). With the Titan gloves “Wormgod Caress”, the bug results in unintentionally high damage with the throw hammer (via Twitter).
Bungie doesn’t like Hunters with a Super every few seconds
This is why the new Hunter Exotic was disabled: The “Radiant Dance Machines” Exotic allows Hunters to use their dodge up to 5 times in a row if they are within a 15-meter radius of the opponent. Sure, such a rolling assassin is hard to hit, but it’s not a reason to block the item.
The reason is that the shoes give the Hunter their Super unnaturally fast. Here’s an example from Gambit:
Even before the Gambit round starts, Zachary Chafe gets half of his Super because both teams face each other – actually separated by a barrier, but likely within 15 meters. When the match starts, he dodges near the first enemy wave and has his Super full … all Hunters could do this every few seconds.
Both clips show that by using the mods “Distribution” and “Dynamo,” dodging gives a chunk of Super energy. Normally, the ability has a cooldown, but the Exotic bypasses this. The real problem is actually the mods, which, in combination with Radiant Dance Machines, give the Hunter a seriously unfair advantage.
Bungie also doesn’t like Titans that can box raid bosses with one hit
This is why the old Titan Exotic was disabled: The “Wormgod Caress” Exotic has been around since 2018 and continues to cause problems. For example, in 2020 there was a lockdown of the gloves. The reason is also that Titans can increase their melee damage the more they knock down in melee.
The middle Sunbreaker tree can throw a burning hammer, which has been buffed in Season 15. Together with the Exotic, however, it is possible to deal an unnaturally high amount of damage, which can hit even raid bosses like Atheon and Riven with one throw:
If the damage of the throw hammer and the effect of Wormgod Caress are stacked in a short time and then combined with something like the Tractor Cannon (debuff for a boss) and a shotgun with double-punch, the highest damage currently obtainable in the game is achieved. One can see that the boss’s health bar jumps immediately from full to zero.
The next lockdown of a new Exotic in Season 15 is already planned
Okay, 2 Exotics were disabled right after the launch of the Season of the Lost, but that’s not all. Bungie has already announced which Exotic is next on the chopping block.
This Exotic will be disabled soon: The linear fusion rifle Lorentz Driver will soon be partially disabled. This was announced by Community Manager Dylan “dmg04” Gaffer (via Twitter).
