In Destiny 2, you have a new enemy in Beyond Light: the weather. On Europa, you can expect light snow flurries and raging blizzards.
This is what dynamic weather is all about: With the launch of the Beyond Light expansion, Destiny 2 will receive a dynamic weather system on November 10th. Bungie aims to set the new location Europa apart from other areas.
There can be sudden storms and snow flurries that obscure your vision. These storms vary in intensity. They are meant to make the ice moon unpredictable, giving you the feeling of exploring a harsh, treacherous frontier.
This is a novelty; until now, Destiny 2 only boasted a fancy skybox, which was rather static.
Weather Conditions on Europa in Beyond Light
- 1. Weather condition: Clear skies, no breeze, ideal for skiing – Essentially just like what we’re used to from other locations
- 2. Weather condition: A storm is brewing – The sky darkens, and snow falls around you
- 3. Weather condition: You are in the middle of a blizzard – The wind roars loudly, you can hardly see your hand in front of your face, and your orientation is severely limited

The storms should be this mean: Bungie shares a bit about the new weather system: Originally, a snowstorm was planned to significantly slow down players. There were experiments with altering the trajectories of thrown grenades, and during development, a gust of wind could even knock players off their Sparrows.
However, in the final version, Europa will be less harsh.
With schadenfreude, it is said that just because it’s stormy around your Guardians and you don’t know where you are, the other threats don’t disappear. The Fallen and Vex will still have you in their sights even in the blizzard. Fortunately, you can rely on thermal scopes.

How does the storm sound? In addition to the new weather conditions, a new sound system has been implemented. Inspiration for the sounds was reportedly drawn from harbor seals in the Arctic.
