The Leviathan raid in Destiny 2 provides keys for hidden chests when you succeed in battles. Most of them can be reached and looted solo. We will show you how!
The raid offers plenty of room for explorers. Endless corridors beneath the main area want to be explored and their secrets revealed. In this vast area, you can discover nine chests that have a great chance of exotic engrams. The coveted Imperator tokens can also be found in these chests.
If you want to open one of the chests named after their location, you need the corresponding key. These keys drop after each successfully completed phase in the raid, so a maximum of four per week per character.
Which key you receive after a victorious battle is left to chance, but all members of a fireteam receive the same key to encourage exploration of the underground of the Leviathan together.
Your fireteam is struggling? Don’t despair!
So you’ve fought your way to Calus after hours of attempts and your fireteam is struggling? Don’t despair – the clever player iPhilamazing has found a way to open most of these chests alone under certain conditions.
You should definitely consider the option of getting the chests alone since the keys are removed from your inventory with each weekly reset. So if no one from your fireteam is available, set off on your own!
Here’s how to activate the levers to unlock the hidden area solo
You can reach the levers by entering a room directly below the starting area of the raid. When arranged from left to right, the correct combination is 1-5-3-2-4-6. To operate the levers alone, you need to be quick. Increase your mobility with appropriate armor pieces to the maximum of 10. If you now also equip the MIDA Multi-Tool, you will be fast enough to reach all the levers in the required time.
With this build, you can get most raid chests solo
The biggest challenge in unlocking many chests comes from the four Guardians that must be taken out nearly simultaneously. If you fail to do so, the Guardians will call for reinforcements and the door to the chest remains locked.
This challenging task can currently be best achieved with a Titan. The player in the video uses the Striker subclass with the code of the Earthshatterer. This code grants two grenades, a crucial aspect for taking out the four Guardians in the shortest time.
Depending on the position of the annoying robots, the player uses flashbang grenades that stick to surfaces – or pulse grenades. Both variants take out the Guardians almost instantly.
For the remaining two Guardians, iPhilamazing uses a grenade launcher, which quickly takes out the Watchers.

- Engine Chest – 01:40
- Aqueduct Chest – 02:10
- Transfer Chest – 03:25
- Weapon Chamber Chest – 04:40
- Irrigation Chest – 05:35
- Pipe Chest – 06:25
- Fan Chest – 07:15
- Drain Chest – 08:30
Note that it is currently only possible to unlock 8 chests solo. The chest in the pipe section cannot be looted solo.
Currently, there are no known ways to complete this challenge with a Warlock or Hunter. As soon as we have an update on this, the article will be updated accordingly.
