Currently, there is almost daily new information about the Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2. A small detail about the upcoming raid has now been revealed, sparking heated debates around the potential raid boss.
First hints about Forsaken raid boss via Twitter: A seemingly innocuous tweet from Bungie raid team lead Joe Blackburn is currently generating plenty of discussion within the community. Although the message doesn’t reveal anything concrete, the subtle hint was clear enough for many fans to create a shortlist of potential candidates for the raid boss of the upcoming Forsaken expansion.
The raid boss in Forsaken – Who is in the running?
Fans show their support, streamer gets a tattoo on his butt: During a charity stream at GuardianCon, the community donated actively, allowing one of the stream’s organizers, Patrick Casey, also known as Holtzman, to get a tattoo on his butt.
Raid boss as a tattoo template? No, but a hint: In the tweet, Joe Blackburn responded to Holtzman’s question about whether he could get the final boss of Forsaken tattooed, saying: “I don’t want people to make fun of him for spoilers, and I think she is much too pretty to end up where he gets tattooed.”
At first glance, this sentence doesn’t seem particularly telling, but two important details significantly narrow down the number of potential candidates for the position of the main villain in the upcoming raid. It is clear that:
- It is a she; the boss will therefore be female
- And she is probably very pretty
Hint supports some fan theories: Even though these are not really concrete details, they support some currently circulating fan theories about who one might face at the end of the upcoming Forsaken raid. These possibilities are currently being considered more strongly:
Mara Sov: One of the “main suspects” is the missing Mara Sov, the Queen of the Awoken. Her brother, Prince Uldren, is one of the key characters in the Forsaken expansion. Many fans have long speculated that she could appear in some form in the Fall DLC. After this hint, it seems more likely than ever that we might see the Queen of the Reef again soon.
However, a role as a raid boss would require a fair amount of malice and bad intentions – this has not really been the case so far. However, her brother Uldren – though still mysterious – was obviously capable of actions that few would have deemed probable. Moreover, many suspect that Uldren does not act solely out of pure malice and that there might be more behind his actions.
Savathûn: Another top candidate is Oryx’s sister Savathûn. Destiny fans have been waiting for her appearance for a long time, and there are already some hints in the game suggesting that this could actually happen. Although she is presumably anything but pretty, the community suspects that Blackburn could have made a sarcastic hint here.
Further possibilities: There are still some further possibilities regarding who the upcoming raid boss could be. Recently, a theory about the return of the Ahamkara – possibly also as a raid boss – was discussed, and some fans think it might be a female Ahamkara. Because in concept art, these creatures actually look quite pretty.
Furthermore, Oryx’s second sister Xivu Arath is considered by some in the community as a potential final boss of the raid. It is also possible that it could be a completely new female character that has not appeared in the lore before and is introduced with the Forsaken expansion.
Whoever ultimately takes on this role, it will definitely be a female character – whether pretty or ugly, if “pretty” is meant sarcastically. Because Bungie is known for choosing their words very carefully and thoughtfully.
