Recently, the 6v6 format has also been introduced in the Crucible of Destiny 2 – albeit only during the one-week Iron Banner event. How has the community responded to this change so far? We summarize the initial reactions and want to hear your opinion on it.
Since April 17, the April Iron Banner has been running in Destiny 2 – in the long-awaited 6v6 format. Numerous fans have been looking forward to this PvP event since its announcement. Many held out hope that with the return of the beloved 6v6 format, a much-needed fresh breeze could finally blow through the monotonous Crucible of Destiny 2, possibly breathing new life into the unpopular PvP mode.
After many Guardians had the chance to dive into the 6v6 and gather initial experiences with this format in Destiny 2, we are receiving more and more opinions from the community. We will briefly summarize the initial reactions from the fans about the 6v6 mode and want to know from you in a survey what you think about this new old format in Destiny 2.
6v6 in the Crucible – fans’ thoughts
The initial reactions from the Guardians have mostly been surprisingly positive so far. According to the comments from players on Reddit and other forums, it quickly becomes clear that the format known from its predecessor is very well received by the Guardians in Destiny 2.
Obviously, the PvP is finally fun – for some, for the first time ever. Many fans see the 6v6 mode as a welcome change in the otherwise monotonous Crucible of the game. Not a few go even further and already demand the permanent incorporation of this format into the Crucible and an expansion to other game modes.
However, even though the positive tone currently prevails, there is of course also negative feedback. Some players complain about poor spawn mechanics, lags, and small maps.

However, critical words from some users were also noticeable:
Gothsta: “For me, Iron Banner is dead. 6v6 okay on larger maps without radar. Then I might give it another chance, but the 8 rounds I had yesterday had nothing to do with fun.”
Marki Wolle: “I’ve now also tested it, besides the fact that of course any incentive and rewards are lacking, also after a match the rewards, the maps are unfortunately too small for 6v6. But it’s at least better than 4v4.”
Manuel: “One week of EB with 6v6 is not enough to restart the game. There needs to be much more coming. The direction is right, but 6v6 must be expanded to the entire PvP so that it is always available….”
