At Destiny 2, the largest and most interesting presentation of Lightfall is upcoming – the ViDoc. There, players will be able to learn a lot of new information about the upcoming DLC from the developers firsthand. Which expansion will be presented today for Destiny 2? The triple-A studio Bungie will present today, on February 16, 2023, the latest and fifth DLC for Destiny 2 called “Lightfall.” They announced to the guardians, “We were made for this moment. “
- The expansion on the Saturn moon Europa “Beyond Light” in 2020 was essentially the narrative introduction to the major events.
- The DLC “The Witch Queen” then really got the saga going in 2022.
- Now Lightfall marks the “beginning of the end” for the Light and Darkness saga.
- Following that, the last DLC “The Final Shape” will be released in 2024.
The end is not here yet
What is happening in Destiny 2 right now? In Lightfall, the guardians not only have to harness the new power “Strand”. They also have to face the Darkness in order to defend the Light. Because currently, the Traveler stands alone against a massive fleet of Pyramid ships and has nowhere to go.
In contrast, the Witness has all the threads in hand. He commands his newest apprentice Calus, whom he uses the Darkness ruthlessly to his advantage. Now he has arrived at Earth and has his target, the Traveler, right in front of him. So it’s showtime!
With Lightfall, it’s getting serious: Season 19 already ended with one of the most gripping cutscenes since Cayde-6’s death and thus marks the beginning of the end of the grand saga about Light and Darkness in Destiny 2. All of this is supposed to lead to the “Final Shape,” the last DLC. What happens next with Destiny 2 is still uncertain.
The last hope for the guardians is currently a message from Season 19 from the Warmind Rasputin. He revealed to the players that Savathun has hidden something on Neptune called “the Veil.” It could be humanity’s last hope and might prevent the second impending doom.
The Neptunian city in Osiris’ visions exists! I don’t know exactly where, but there is “the Veil,” an object of great paracausal power. It is connected to the Traveler.

4:15 PM – Here’s what’s next after Lightfall: In the end, the ViDoc also gave a glimpse of the future of Destiny 2, where there should be much to discover.
Alongside this, the Guardian Ranks system is on display. This is supposed to be Bungie’s answer to the question: “What should I do in Destiny if I want to improve?” In the ViDoc, players can see how they can rate themselves after a raid and thus finally show their appreciation to other players.
4:12 PM – In-game loadout system in presentation: Now, the build management has been shown. Players will find everything in one place and directly in the game. So one can not only see the system, read it, but also learn it.
The “Season of Resistance” indeed takes place in the European Dead Zone, where Calus is conducting a ground war against humanity. The guardians must free prisoners and try to protect the Last City. To do this, they are working with Petra and Devrim.
4:10 PM – This is Season 20: Now they showed the players Neomuna with its Poukas. Modern, fresh, and with a great skyline. In addition, the storyline revolves around Earth, which is what Season 20 will be about. Now they are coming and thus presenting the new Season 20.
Then Bungie reveals in the ViDoc exactly where Strand actually comes from:
[Strand] is something that does not really exist. One cannot simply refer to Solar, Arc, or Stasis. When the idea of the threads came up, the strands that illuminate the world, that was when everything came together. Strand is different from all the powers we have had so far. It did not come from the Traveler. It did not come from the Pyramids. It is a power that is released within us as guardians.

But first, Bungie takes a jab at some leakers in the ViDoc and casually clarifies: “Are we doing what everyone would have expected? Are we doing something like poison? Not at all!”
When the end of the universe approaches, it seems there is nothing left for the guardians but themselves, and this will lead to the new subclass Strand.
4:07 PM: Strand, the new subclass, is already known. But Bungie is now showing new gameplay in the ViDoc, which gives the guardians not only more movement but also fun at great heights.
These Neomuna locations were teased in the ViDoc:
- The “Fascinatron”: This is a Lost Sector in the form of an arcade, where players can even play for fun with their buddies.
- The “Pouka Pond”: In Lightfall and the new location “Neomuna,” you can see plenty of these flying fish-like creatures that were so fascinating back in the DLC “Beyond Light.”
- The “Ahimsa Park”: On the other side of the city of Neomuna lies Calus’ ship. The Typhon Imperator has landed right in Ahimsa Park, and there the neon city lies in ruins.
A location with skyscrapers: Neomuna has existed for hundreds of years. It diverged from Earth during the cataclysm and severed all communication. They have therefore been secretly living in safety on Neptune for quite some time. Now, they are being visited by the guardians.
The protectors of Neomuna are 2 cloudrunners:
- Rohan is the grumpy old veteran who is too old for all this
- Nimbus is the young wild one still in training with Rohan. He is impetuous and full of life, a bit cocky, but very confident in his own abilities.
4:06 PM: Now the ViDoc goes into the new location Neomuna and we see not only a lot of neon and 2 cloudrunners, but also plenty of cute, freely flying Poukas.
4:05 PM Bungie knows exactly what the guardians want, and so they openly ask in the ViDoc, “What does the Witness want from the Traveler? What happens when he gets it?” The developer retorts: “In Lightfall, he gets it!” The Light is indeed in danger, and thus the powers of the guardians are too.
4:04 PM: The Witness will put all of this to the test in Lightfall. For him, it’s about control. The Witness seeks to finish what the cataclysm began. And more. The goal of the guardians is indeed to bring about his end.
4:03 PM: Brilliant images flash across the screen and we at MeinMMO discover fantastic scenes. In the upcoming expansion, the space war breaks out and the guardians are right in the middle of this cosmic battle of superlatives. And Calus has received new clothes along with a chalice from the Witness!
4:01 PM: What are guardians actually? After the first seconds in the ViDoc, thousands of guardians watching ask themselves this. Bungie has already revealed that the Darkness is not evil and the Traveler is not benevolent. But were guardians made to defend the Traveler? Or were they made to defend humanity?
4:00 PM: MeinMMO is now live, as the reveal of the ViDoc with the telling title “When the Light Falls, Our End Begins” starts now.
