The big announcement about the future of Destiny 2 is coming faster than some might have thought. Next week, Bungie plans to break the silence about Year 3.
What happens next with Destiny 2 after Season 7? This is a question that is likely on the minds of many Destiny fans. For the first time, Bungie will need to deliver its own content without the help of the publisher and additional studios after the split from Activision.
Since the end of 2018, Bungie has communicated plans only up to August 2019 – that is, until the end of Season 7, which will begin in a few days on June 4. What will happen thereafter remains unknown to the fans. So far, there have only been speculations, presumed leaks, and estimates.
Finally, last week there was some movement in the matter: A few days ago, the studio announced that it will soon announce a new era of Destiny 2. Community Manager DeeJ stated: “Once Season 7 has started and the raid belts have been distributed, we will look deeper into the future and share more about Bungie’s new era and Destiny 2.”
Fans speculated that Bungie might discuss new content for Destiny 2 at the E3 fair in 2019 (starting June 11) or at Guardian-Con (starting July 5). But it seems that will happen even sooner.
On this day, we will learn more about Year 3 of Destiny 2: As Bungie announced in a tweet and in the latest “This Week at Bungie” blog, a major announcement regarding the future of Destiny 2 will be made next week.
On Thursday, June 6, at 7:00 PM our time, the next chapter of Destiny 2 will be officially revealed. They will discuss how Destiny 2 will proceed in Year 3 – likely in a stream or a ViDoc.
No further concrete details have been disclosed yet. However, there are expected to be some exciting announcements. Overall, next week will revolve around new beginnings, according to the studio.
