Actually, Destiny 2 had good news this week when it made important armor perks available for all players for free. However, many Guardians became suspicious because one thing in Bungie’s announcement seemed to confirm their fears of harsh nerfs in the upcoming DLC “Lightfall.” MeinMMO tells you what concerns they have and why that is.
A Guardian in Destiny 2 is stronger when they set their armor to a build and especially when utilizing the available armor mods. However, until this week, many of these important ability options were only available to those Guardians who had completed all content in Destiny 2.
- Charged with Light: Since Season 9, Light overloads you and allows you to spend energy for powerful buffs.
- Warmind Cells: In Season 10, Rasputin then provided his mini-nukes that you can set off or collect for bonuses.
- Elemental Orbs: Since Season 11, Guardians can create colorful elemental orbs that can be collected for bonuses and are also available to the entire fireteam.
However, for new players, it has not been possible to obtain those important mods and thus advantages upon entering the game after Season 11 or to earn them later. They could only purchase the mods gradually in small chunks, which was not only expensive but also RNG-based.
Bungie had this good news to announce: Many Guardians have long wished that Destiny 2 should make these important mods more accessible. This player request has been fulfilled this week.
On Twitter, they shared in a brief message that from now on, the important standard armor mods will be made available for free to all players.

Guardians understand: “Use the mods while you can!”
This made the Guardians suspicious: These were actually excellent news, if it weren’t for that one small, frightening addition in Bungie’s message. The developer cryptically mentioned in the last paragraph of its Twitter message that “[…] to use all mods in their current state.”
Especially the two small words “current state” made many experienced Guardians frown. They believe they can already smell tough nerfs for mods coming with Lightfall.
They interpreted this in the Destiny Reddit as the well-meaning hint: “Use the mods while you can.” Especially since they know that Bungie has a habit of significantly rebalancing things with such systemic changes.
The player StochasticSquirrel says: “I firmly believe that the current system, which is painful for new players, will be replaced by a new system that will be painful for all players.”
Another Guardian named Dominate_on_three also commented in Reddit:
Giving everyone a “chance” at the last minute sounds to me like a farewell speech. “We’re going to visit Grandma because we want you to see her one last time before the big operation.
