In a few days, a collaboration with ‘The Witcher’ begins in Destiny 2, which brings new gear to the game’s cash shop. Players are discussing the 3 issues that are preventing them from making a purchase.
This was the news: A few days ago, we reported on MeinMMO that Destiny 2 will also receive new ornaments with the “Season of Wishes” on November 28:
- All three classes will have access to “The Witcher” ornaments
- While there are no exact details on the prices yet, it is assumed that the armors will be sold for the same price as the ornaments from Assassin’s Creed in Season 18
- For each armor, 2,000 silver (about 20 Euros) would be required. So if you want the 3 armor sets for Hunter, Warlock, and Titan, you will pay 60 Euros. That would be significantly more expensive than getting the 3 Witcher games on Steam
In Call of Duty, you can get an 8-piece set for 20 €
This is the discussion: In a large thread on reddit, they discuss the set. One player says: He is not averse to buying a set, but he has some issues:
He says the set is simply too expensive compared to what you get in other service titles for 20 €.
For instance, Call of Duty offers a whole cosmetic pack with a total of 8 items with the “Ash vs. Evil Dead” set, including a fully voiced Ash skin and 2 weapons – a boomstick and an AK that get bloodier the more kills you get with them.
Destiny 2’s offer simply does not meet today’s standards.
While, the player says, he prefers Destiny 2 because of the gunplay over Call of Duty, he still cannot justify spending so much money on Destiny 2 when other service games offer so much more content for the same money.
In Destiny, it annoys the Guardians that they have to buy 3 sets to receive the complete collection; they do not appreciate this splitting of content, especially since many regular players apparently play all 3 classes. If they sold the skins individually, then not for 20 $, but at most for 10 $. This criticism also came up in the reddit thread:
“Anything they split into 3 different buyers is an automatic ‘No’ for me. If you could unlock an ornament/armor set for all 3 classes with one purchase, then I would consider it, but I won’t touch something that is so split like that. Especially since it used to be different.”
As a third problem that receives a lot of agreement, another player explains that you cannot “transmog” exotic items, so you can’t even show the full set. So what is the point of getting the set if you can’t even wear it fully.
The “transmog” allows players in Destiny 2 to wear the items they want in terms of stats, but still look how they prefer.

- User WooDaHoo especially criticizes the unfortunate timing of the action. Especially after layoffs, it is remarkable that the PR strategists apparently were allowed to keep their jobs and continue with their business.
- Long-time user Millerntorian also considers it a wrong signal at this point in time.
- FrauHolle2 says Bungie could have appeased the players here and given the Witcher armor away for free as a “sweetener.” Instead, they are now selling it for 20 Euros a piece. Bungie has “understood nothing.”
