In Destiny 2, players have discovered a new loot cave in the Cosmodrome – very similar to the predecessor. However, the trip is worthwhile not only for nostalgic players. We explain who can currently benefit from this discovery.
What is the loot cave all about? In the early days of Destiny 1, Guardians found a cave in the Cosmodrome on Earth where one could scoop up quite a bit of loot in a relatively short time and with comparatively little effort. This was quickly dubbed the Loot Cave by the community.
From this cave, dozens of simple enemies continuously ran out – essentially in infinite waves. The Guardians mowed down one wave after another and collected the loot or the Engrams that accumulated there over time. Then they would head to the Tower to the Cryptarch, where they mostly received junk but occasionally also got a decent item.
At some point, this was patched and thus became legendary. Now, with Destiny 2 Beyond Light and Season 12, the Cosmodrome from part 1 returned, and players immediately found a new loot cave there.

Players discover new loot cave
Where can you find the new loot cave? The new loot cave is also located in the Cosmodrome on Earth, but in a different area – namely “The Rift”.

- Select the southern (lower) landing zone “The Steppes”.
- Once landed, do not run out into the vastness of the Cosmodrome right in front of you, but turn left and go into the destroyed building.
- Follow the corridor through the area “Dock 13” to “The Rift”.
- As soon as you see the area name on the left side of the screen and come outside, look to the right. There you will see the protrusion of a larger building.
- Right in this protrusion is the new loot cave, but on the other side.
I’m there – what now? Now you can stand in front of the loot cave, keep a little distance, and start shooting.

Who benefits from the new loot cave?
One thing upfront: For players beyond power level 1,200 or for the endgame, this new loot cave is less suitable. Yes, you can work towards Primus Engrams there in a relaxed manner. However, you can neither farm them endlessly nor is it particularly faster than doing regular activities.
For nostalgic players: For nostalgic players, the new loot cave is definitely worth a look. Those who want to reminisce about standing in front of the original cave and shooting in wildly may find the new cave brings a smile to their face.
Especially if you haven’t yet reached the soft cap, or if you are playing with friends who have not yet arrived there, this is a cool way to share some of your nostalgic memories.
For loot quests: Additionally, the new loot cave is a good opportunity to quickly and effectively complete a large part of the Cosmodrome as well as weapons master bounties – provided there are not too many players there.
Up to power level 1,200: Rare or legendary Engrams often drop in the loot cave. And since nearly every new piece of equipment helps you on your way to power level 1,200, you can relatively comfortably advance your power level – for example, if you are still a bit low level for one or the other new mission from Destiny 2 Beyond Light.
