Destiny 2 players now receive hate messages when using a weapon type: "Honor never existed and will never exist"

Recently, some improvements were made to fusion rifles in Destiny 2 that are supposed to make them more effective in combat against other weapon types.

“The hate against fusion rifles is incredible”

This is what the Guardian reported on Reddit: Rheytos shared his personal experiences with the community to both raise awareness of this unnecessary hate and to find out if others have had similar negative experiences.

He writes:

Today, I received many negative messages again just because I used my fusion rifle [“Fangfrage”]. I know it can be an effective counter against shotguns, but I really don’t understand why people are so upset. I have never experienced such a level of hate when using sniper rifles or shotguns.

Some confirmed his impression and emphasized that the hate is due to fusion rifles being extremely strong against shotguns and other close-combat weapons.

For example, the player d_rek replies: “Because they are seen as a ‘no-skill weapon’ by PvP fanatics. When a tryhard is killed by anything other than a primary weapon or a special weapon that isn’t a shotgun or a sniper rifle, they start to get angry.“

The player TheJeffyJeefAceg also sees it this way and explains: “Their range for a one-hit kill is ridiculous, and they are very easy to use. People who actually try to be skilled in the game hate them because they essentially provide free kills for inexperienced players and it’s very difficult to play against them. They are a crutch for inexperienced players who would admit they couldn’t win otherwise.“

Indeed, fusion rifles have crazy range in PvP for a weapon that requires no precision. They also have a lot of forgiveness, as not all bolts need to hit.

Looking at this in comparison to sniper rifles that require a headshot and are affected by flinching, or shotguns that have a much lower range, fusion rifles are absolutely forgiving, which is likely why they are hated accordingly.
