The Destiny-2-anniversary DLC reveals more and more how lovingly Bungie has put it together. Besides the many little references to the developer’s past, the reason for that is mainly the Halo-inspired weapons. MeinMMO reveals to you which weapons are involved and what they can do.
To give you an idea of what to expect, we will briefly introduce the weapons that are meant to remind you of Bungie’s famous past in this overview.
Where do you get the new weapons?
- The Halo-inspired weapons can be earned through the free 6-player activity “Trials of Eternity”.
- They are not tied to any quest. You simply have to earn the so-called treasure keys in the activity, which you can use to open Xur’s chest.
- Treasure keys drop at the end of a run of the activity.
This is particularly efficient for farming: Higher difficulties provide better loot. Additionally, you can pick up daily and weekly bounties at the Stardust-Horse. They grant you Paracasual Fragments that you can open. If you have excess coins, you can also buy additional treasure keys for 10 Strange Coins.
The swords “Half-Truths” and “The Other Half”
(inspired by the Halo Particle Sword)
A fine blade, but somehow it seems to be missing something…
Weapon description of the Half-Truths and The Other Half
If only there were a way to combine them …
These two swords are inspired by the famous particle sword from Halo. Bungie alludes to the second half in the description of the sword “Half-Truths”. For together, both swords visually remind of the famous Halo Particle Sword.
What can the two swords do? The Arc sword is called “Half-Truths”. The Void sword is called “The Other Half”. It can drop with the perk “Frenzy”. Those who stay in combat for a longer time deal more damage, have better handling, and an increased reload rate until the fight is over.
The weapon stats of both swords are identical:
Swing Speed: 46 | Impact: 60 | Range: 40 | Charge Time: 20/32 | Magazine Capacity: 61
Both swords can drop with the exclusive perk “Bold Blade”. Thanks to it, you gain increased jump distance. So you get it only with one of these two swords, and the effect is really not to be underestimated. This also allows the Sparrow passage in the new dungeon “Sog of Avarice” to be played while flying.
Some players have speculated that it would be cool if the two swords somehow could combine into the original particle sword. However, this is not confirmed and remains pure speculation and just a wish of the community.
“Traceable Path” – The first legendary Trace Rifle
(inspired by the Halo Covenant Carbine Beam Rifle)
An early prototype that revealed the potential of future trace rifles.
Weapon description of the Traceable Path
Destiny 2 players had to wait a long time for the first legendary trace rifle.
There really isn’t a perfect god roll for the weapon, but with the perk “Corkscrew Rifling” it is quite solid. “Origin” is also good, which reloads the magazine from reserves when you destroy an enemy shield. “Tactical Battery” provides a slight improvement to stability, reload speed, and range.
What can the weapon do? Like any other trace rifle, it fires a laser-like beam of solar energy. Additionally, the trace rifle has a rate of fire of 1000 and a target help of 100. The rounded grip makes it reliable and robust.
The weapon stats of the legendary trace rifle:
Impact: 6 | Range: 68 | Stability: 78 | Handling: 51 | Reload Speed: 50 | Magazine: 94
You should definitely try the new perk “Golden Tricorn” with the trace rifle. It provides bonus damage, and while the buff is active, grenade or melee kills of the same damage type significantly increase damage and duration.
The weapon invites you to experiment with it and was certainly not the last legendary trace rifle.
So far, there have only been exotic trace rifles in Destiny 2:
“BXR-55-STRIKER” Pulse Rifle
(inspired by the Halo BR55)
A coveted piece from a bygone era.
Weapon description of the BXR-55-STRIKER
Former Halo players surely remember the effective burst fire of this weapon, with which you could excellently take down “Kamikaze Grunts”.
What can the weapon do? The pulse rifle has a “Legacy IG-55 shape”. This is a custom weapon shape with dramatically increased precision, stability, and accuracy when firing from the hip. It also has a rate of fire of 450 and deals solar damage. Additionally, one could describe the zoom (20) as “sniper zoom”.
The weapon stats of the pulse rifle:
Impact: 23 | Range: 55 | Stability: 63 | Handling: 74 | Reload Speed: 67 | Aim Assist: 85
Recommended perks for PvE: The new perk “Perpetual Motion” combined with “Kill Clip” or “Adrenaline Junkie”.
Especially “Adrenaline Junkie” has benefited greatly from the improvements made by Bungie after update 3.4.0. The combination with “Perpetual Motion” then gives the weapon not only more damage but also more stability, better handling, and a faster reload speed when on the move.
Recommended perks for PvP: For PvP, the perk “Perpetual Motion” works very well too. We recommend combining it with “Targeting Adjuster”, which increases your zoom and range.
Furthermore, only this pulse rifle rolls with the exclusive legendary perk “BX-Rounds”. When you hit enemies with melee abilities, it significantly increases handling and damage. However, this effect is limited and expires after a short duration or after the next shot.
The exotic pistol “Pathfinder”
(inspired by the Halo M6-Magnum pistol)
A new chapter for an old legend.
Weapon description of the Pathfinder
The pistol “Pathfinder” is the only exotic among the Halo-inspired weapons. It is a kinetic weapon with a rate of fire of 200 and requires special ammunition.
What can the weapon do? Its exotic perk “Full Stop” generates oversized gravimetric long-range projectiles. It can fire automatically and at an increased rate of fire. It deals increased precision damage to enemies without shields. Additionally, the perk “Hold Back” ensures that the weapon’s kick is reduced when you tap the trigger. This simultaneously increases precision.
The weapon stats of the exotic pistol
Impact: 35 | Range: 100 | Stability: 73 | Handling: 64 | Reload Speed: 82 | Magazine: 15 | Aim Assist: 60
With the catalyst and its perk “The Rock”, you can even generate one of the original Halo fragmentation grenades in Destiny 2.
However, these four weapons are not the only things that players can currently obtain in Destiny 2. There is the quest “All Wolves Fly High” for the iconic exotic rocket launcher “Gjallarhorn”. Additionally, the quest “Magnum Opus” for the exotic pistol “Pathfinder” presented here, and in the Grandmaster dungeon “Sog of Avarice”, you can earn master armors that have an extra artifact mod slot.
How successful do you personally find the Halo-inspired weapon arsenal in Destiny 2? Have you discovered all of them yet? Which weapon do you think has the greatest potential to become a player favorite?
