In Destiny 2, you now need to watch out for a “forbidden hunter technique”. We explain why it’s called that and how it works.
First, you need to be careful: Those who venture into the Crucible now will face numerous Stasis Hunters who can freeze everything. It’s already frustrating to see your opponent gleefully building up in front of you and then transforming you into a helpless ice sculpture that shatters into a thousand pieces.
But recently, a new stasis technique has been making the rounds that is even nastier. To die from the so-called “forbidden hunter technique” or “the Drewsky,” you don’t even need to be frozen. Even without line of sight, Stasis Hunters can knock you out with just one hit at any time.
This is how it works: Through a combination of aspects and fragments, the new Revenant class can create wide-ranging ice crystals and destroy them in less than a second. The resulting explosion is enough to instantly kill everything within a few meters.
What you need for the new Wombo Combo in Destiny 2:
- The Glacier Grenade of your Stasis Revenant: Creates a large ice wall
- The Aspect “Shatter Dive”: You can rush down from the air and shatter all Stasis constructs in the vicinity
- The Fragment “Whisper of Rifts”: Increases damage and size of the Stasis explosion when you destroy a Stasis crystal or defeat a frozen target
- The Fragment “Whisper of Fragments”: Shattering a Stasis crystal temporarily increases your grenade recharge rate
What is a Wombo Combo?
In Destiny, it has become customary to refer to the combination of Smoke Grenade and Void Grenade of the Nightstalker as a Wombo Combo, since the suppressed and blinded opponent cannot escape the grenade damage. However, the term originally comes from Super Smash Bros.
This is how you play it: Equipped like this, throw a Glacier Grenade in the general direction of enemies. Then activate the Shatter Dive from the jump and land near the ice wall. It will explode in a large shatter explosion, sending everything in the vicinity to the virtual beyond.
You can use the “forbidden hunter technique” again in a short time with the equipped fragments – if you can handle any hate messages from your competitors.
Those who want to can invest in plenty of discipline and use the exotic boots “Fr0st-ee5” to charge your grenade extremely quickly.
Will this last in this form for long, or will it soon be adjusted, like recently with the Stasis Warlock? How to unlock fragments and aspects for your Stasis classes and what they can do, you can read here on MeinMMO:
Why is it called “forbidden hunter technique” or “doing the Drewsky”?
The nasty Stasis combo was most recently prominently used by the streamer and YouTuber Drewsky.
- Other content creators, like the friendly Destiny expert Fallout, have now picked it up. His video on the subject is titled “The New Forbidden Hunter Technique…”.
- The PvP crack Ascendant Nomad, known as the Crucible Doctor, titled his corresponding video: “How to do the Drewsky Dunk”.
That’s why it has tradition: Of course, Drewsky didn’t invent the combination, as he and the other content creators know. However, in the community, it has become a tradition to name such approaches after prominent users.
- For example, “doing an nKuch” means quickly firing with a sniper rifle and immediately following up with a hand cannon.
- So not sniping precisely, but rather landing a comparatively easier body shot, immediately switching weapons, and then finishing off the wounded target with the primary weapon.
- It is named after the well-known YouTuber nKuch.

Have you already fallen victim to the new Wombo Combo, or are you using the nasty technique yourself? Do you think that the Stasis Hunter will soon end up like the Warlock and that Bungie won’t leave it like this in the game?
