For guardians in Destiny 2, new, still unknown weapons are the best. They bring variety to the game and you want to quickly farm them. However, for the upcoming expansion “Lightfall”, Bungie has literally “unwrapped” a few old DLC weapons. We show you which ones they are and what the community says about it.
From Old to New: Bungie recently released a weapon trailer and proudly showed off its new, modern guns.
- Among them is a frosty Exo-spear “Winterbite”, which could be quite powerful.
- A Void machine gun named “Deterministic Chaos” that weakens targets upon impact and can also make them unstable.
- The Strand pistol “Final Warning”, which marks targets in range and aggressively fires projectiles at them when shooting from the hip.
- As well as a Legendary weapon set for Season 20 featuring 5 new guns.
However, as modern and fresh as the new location Neomuna looks, some guardians felt that the legendary weapon set looked too familiar. And it seems that Destiny 2 is once again not shying away from reusing the assets of old weapons for the upcoming DLC “Lightfall”.
In the video, you can already see some of the weapons in action:

Which weapon set is it? The Legendary weapon set of the upcoming DLC is updated versions of the weapons from the Moon. More specifically, from the “Forsaken” DLC of 2019.
The once decorative elements of Eris Morn were removed, and after all feathers, teeth, and blue ribbons were removed, Bungie shaped the new Legendary Lightfall weapons for Season 20 with a bit of neon flair.
- The Moon weapons were first released with Season 8 in the “Forsaken” DLC of 2019.
- In 2021 for Season 14 Bungie overhauled a total of 9 of the Shadowkeep Moon weapons. Although not visually, they were equipped with new perks and level caps to make them interesting again.
However, keep in mind: even if the appearance may be the same, Bungie certainly didn’t just remove the decoration. Other changes to the Lightfall versions of the old Moon weapons have likely been made, which may only be discoverable from February 28.
- Bungie may have not only “unwrapped” the weapons but also come up with new and fresh perks as well as build synergies for them.
- Frames, rate of fire, handling, and other stats of the weapons may also vary.
- The “new-old” Neomuna weapons will most likely be craftable, allowing you to make the once very popular Moon guns meta-ready for every future meta with the Lightfall rework.
Even though nothing is known yet about the properties of the Lightfall weapons, we have taken a close look at the upcoming weapon set and assigned the “new” guns their old templates. Through our images, you can optimally compare the appearance of both weapons.

1 “Dreambreaker” – Fusion rifle
The Dreambreaker was once a Solar fusion rifle with a charge time of 660ms and an adaptive frame. To obtain the weapon, guardians wandered deep beneath the Moon through the Hive catacombs. It was thus part of the then Dreambreaker quest for Eris Morn. After several dark tunnels, players found the Horned Crown of Ehrath’Ur and killed Malura, the Fateful, to obtain the fusion rifle.
What made the weapon special back then? The weapon was often farmed because it dealt significant damage with the artifact mod “Particle Deconstruction”. However, without the artifact boost, it was rather average in popularity.

2 “Calm” – Sniper rifle
With a rate of fire of 90 and a power of 70, the precision weapon belongs to the same archetype as the popular sniper “Beloved”.
What made the weapon special back then? “Calm” could have the rare and powerful perk “Marksman’s Line”. This increased damage by 25% when teammates were nearby. Nowadays, however, “Calm” would have enough competition that it probably couldn’t stand out anymore.

On the next page, we will show you how the remaining 3 weapons look and tell you what players from the Destiny community think about them.
