In Destiny 2 Season 10 started for the first time without new ritual weapons, much to the annoyance of the players. Now Bungie speaks out and gives insights into the decision behind it.
What is the problem? In the recently started Season 10 of Destiny 2, Guardians miss new ritual weapons. Until now, it was the case that at the start of a new season, three such special weapons could be earned through quests targeted by all players.
That’s why ritual weapons are important: The ritual weapons provided players with engagement, a carrot in front of their noses. The quests required players to roam in the different playlists. This populated the various areas of the game and in the end, the players were guaranteed to hold a good weapon in their hands.
There was one ritual weapon from each of these areas:
- Vanguard Strikes (PvE quest from Commander Zavala)
- Crucible (PvP quest from Lord Shaxx)
- Gambit (PvEvP quest from the Drifter)
Ritual weapons have not completely disappeared from Destiny 2. Examples from previous seasons and the associated quests can still be earned. Moreover, it must be said that there is indeed a new ritual weapon, but only one and not three, as it was previously the case.

This is what Bungie says: The absence of ritual weapons is a hot topic among Guardians. Bungie’s community manager dmg04 now responds to a corresponding Reddit post and clarifies the background to the decision.
In his statement, dmg04 mentioned among other things that they are aware of how strong the players’ desire for “pursuit weapons” is. However, due to the current situation, the Destiny developer must make compromises in the distribution of the available resources. This certainly also refers to the separation from publisher Activision Blizzard.
It is a tricky balancing act, as pursuit weapons could come at the expense of general rewards that are given for alternative activities (e.g., legendary weapons for Trials).

For example, the revision of the current weapons for the returning Trials of Osiris this season has taken priority. The community manager indicated, however, that the return of the popular strike, crucible and gambit weapons is in prospect, but he cannot currently make any promises.
