The latest dungeon “Duality” is currently popular content in Destiny 2. While many guardians need about 1 hour for the activity, a fireteam completes it casually from start to the kill of the final boss in under 9 minutes. But even if you don’t want to become speedrunners, the run reveals some practical shortcuts that you can also use.
What kind of record is this? Speedruns in Destiny 2 have their own fanbase. While other players usually spend hours in activities, the goal of the speedrunning community is to find new ways to complete dungeons or raids in record time. The faster, the better.
Players Gunnarhawk, Speeding-Rex, and Zero thought the same and took on the latest dungeon “Duality” from Season 17. In under 9 minutes, they completed all three encounters of the mini-raid along with boss fights and jumping sections with almost incredible speed.

How did they achieve this so quickly? Certainly, a lot of experience and even more time investment went into the Duality speedrun. To reach this speed, all processes within the team must be perfectly coordinated, practiced, and every buff must be optimally triggered.
You can always see that the fireteam waits briefly for the generation of solar sources to push their abilities. Additionally, lightning-fast armor and weapon switches are necessary, mind you, while jumping into the depths.
Only if everything works perfectly, it becomes possible to take down the bosses of the dungeon “Duality” in just one phase.
What weapons do speedrunners rely on? In this dungeon, swords are unmatched. With them, speedrunners gain an advantage not only against the bosses.
- In the first encounter, they used the sword exotic “The Lament”, which provides healing during boss fights thanks to “Intensified Consumption”.
- Also the legendary sword “Half-Truths” from the “30 Years Bungie” DLC is in use. It offers ultimate mobility advantages through the perk “Bold Blade”, helping players to “fly” over large areas in no time.
- In the second encounter, they use the hand cannon exotic “Eriana’s Vow” to quickly eliminate the Cabal Phalanx and Legionaries, as well as the raid exotic “Divinity” to deal more damage to the 3 mini-bosses.
- Against the final boss “Calus’ Scorn,” the speedrunners then use a double linear fusion rifle combo:
- One is the Season 15 exotic “Lorentz Driver” to swiftly send the Bellkeepers to the afterlife from a distance using a Black Hole.
- And for the final boss Caiatl, the current DPS king in Season 17 “Storm Chaser”, which, with activated buffs, deals 90,000 damage per salvo, so one final boss phase with Caiatl is enough to complete the dungeon.
Practical shortcuts you can also use
But even if you don’t want to become speedrunners now, the record is certainly interesting for normal guardians as it reveals some practical tricks and shortcuts. For some, you need a bit of practice in “sword surfing”, others you can use as well.
These shortcuts are worth a try:
- At 1:00 minute, the speedrunners use the first shortcut by activating the bell behind them and then jumping down multiple floors to the passage.
- In the second encounter, time is tight, but the paths are long. Here, the speedrunners, depending on the bell position, do not take the path through the enemy-occupied middle, but simply fly around the outside. Visible in the video at minute 4:00 and 5:00.
This is not the first dungeon to set insane records. In the Prophecy dungeon, just watching made people nauseous when speedrunners made the daring jump with their Sparrow that we all wanted to make.
