In Destiny 2, there is currently a new community puzzle active that many fans, players, and content creators are trying to solve. A conclusion event for Season 11 has also been confirmed. Does the puzzle announce the upcoming season finale before Beyond Light?
What is the new puzzle about? In short: A kind of secret countdown has been running in the background in Destiny 2 over the past few days, derived from parts of the collector’s edition of Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Now it has expired, and a new puzzle has been activated.
It seems to be a new ARG puzzle (ARG stands for Alternate Reality Game), where the community must come together and work hand in hand to solve it.
What’s it about? It’s currently about a page that was only accessible through the collector’s edition of Beyond Light. This page spits out various images at the end – mostly different arrangements of black and white squares.
Numerous players and enthusiasts on Reddit and other platforms are trying to analyze the data, categorize it in a gigantic spreadsheet, and somehow make sense of it. However, there hasn’t been a real breakthrough so far, although there are some initial theories.
Where is the puzzle leading the Guardians? What will happen at the end? Currently, no one knows yet. Whether it will actually lead to an in-game event is also still unclear.
Some suspect that it could reveal some missing lore pages in the end. Others think it has to do with the Dreaming City and that it could unfold similarly to the “Corridors of Time” puzzle – just on a smaller scale. Yet others suspect it could lead players to the conclusion event of the Season 11.
Currently, there are only two options: wait or participate in the puzzle – for example, in the Raid-Secrets Subreddit.
Conclusion event for the Season of Arrival confirmed by the Destiny chief
Yes, Season 11 will have a finale: At the end of Season 10, there was for the first time in the history of Destiny 2 a live event, celebrating the season finale.
A massive Cabal space station was destroyed, which had been presented as a great threat throughout the entire season. And anyone could watch from the Tower if they wanted to. The event was quite well received, even though most felt it was a bit drawn out.
Even in the ongoing Season 11, there were already hints that a conclusion event would take place. And now Bungie officially confirms the event – or rather, spoils it.
Originally, it was supposed to be a surprise for the Guardians, but in an email that many Guardians received, there were already hints that a surprise awaits the players at the end of the season. For more information, one should read the current “This Week at Bungie” blog. However, not a word was mentioned there. Shortly after, however, there was clarity from the Destiny chief himself:
Luke Smith, the franchise director, stated that there will indeed be a small conclusion event. It should not be too disrupted – just chilling together in the Tower before the lights go out, meaning before the darkness comes.
What we know so far: Other than that it is now officially happening, not much is really known. Neither a specific date or time nor any details about the process are available.
However, some players suspect that it might start on the night from Monday to Tuesday. Because shortly before the servers go offline for a long maintenance, players are expected to download a small update. Some think that could trigger the event. But that is just speculation and would also be really unfortunate. Because for us in Germany, that would be at 1 AM on Tuesday.
There are already some theories regarding the process.
- Some assume that we might see the pyramid ships arriving directly at the Traveler.
- Others think it is possible that we will witness how the Traveler heals – perhaps even from the front row, namely in the middle of the Last City on Earth and not just from the Tower.
Currently, the same applies here: wait or speculate. However, it would be quite surprising if Bungie does not at least announce a seasonal finale in the form of an event shortly. But maybe they are still waiting to see if the new puzzle gets solved and the event is subsequently unlocked for all Guardians. That is still a possibility in the eyes of some players.
