In Destiny 2, small Fallen are currently captivating the hearts of the tough Guardians in a storm. What is behind the meme that overshadows the start of the new season of the Splicer?
Destiny 2 begins its 14th season on May 11. To shorten the wait for players and get them excited about the new content, Bungie has released a kick-ass trailer.
Who is stealing the show? However, the Guardians hardly had eyes for the new Exotics, powerful weapons, or the announced trip to a neon-soaked cyberpunk world. The new star in the Destiny universe is babies – baby Fallen, to be specific.
With their four big eyes, the small bundles steal the show in the trailer and captivate the hearts of the Guardians in no time. Players are completely infatuated and are flooding the internet with declarations of love and memes.
Check out the trailer here – from about second 34, you can see a group of Fallen and also four of the little rascals:
The tough Guardians really do have a heart
This is how players respond: Players agree that Season 14 already had its first highlight with the little Fallen. Especially on social media, the babies are trending. Here, the Guardians are gushing with declarations about how cute they are and how desperately they need toys of them.
Where do we know this from? This reminds us of the situation in 2019, when Grogu, better known as Baby Yoda from the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian”, captured viewers’ hearts. To this day, the little alien elicits an “ohhhh” from the internet.
The comparison is also drawn by our MeinMMO reader vv4k3, who, despite the impressive trailer, only has eyes for one thing:
The only thing that “blows me away” about the trailer are the cute little Fallen babies. They look like little Grogus.

Bungie hasn’t missed the hype around the baby Fallen. And so the Destiny developer is eagerly sharing the best memes. Here we also see a reference to Baby Yoda:
Some users have already said that Bungie should release stuffed toys of the babies, otherwise Destiny 2 will be uninstalled (via Twitter). Luckily (or unfortunately for merchandise sales), a Guardian has long ago made plush Fallen:
Like Baby Yoda, the cute Fallen are also wrapped in fabric – but to be honest, they look much darker. Some users even compare them to the nasty Borgs from Star Trek, while others say the Fallen babies look like the cutest grenades in the universe (via Twitter).
Who are the little Fallen anyway?
It’s a bit bizarre how unconditional love for the Fallen is. After all, the Guardians are known for millions of murders of the Fallen.
In the very first mission of Destiny 2, players awaken in a junkyard and have nothing better to do than forcefully drive out the Fallen tribe residing there – of which only a few surviving Fallen might be able to tell the tale today.
That’s why the babies are safe: Luckily for the sweet bundles from the new trailer, these Fallen belong to Mithrax and the House of Light. We spared Mithrax once, and now he is our ally and an important character in the story of Season 14. This means that this alien group is, for once, favorable towards humanity.
And with such powerful god-slaying guardians like us as support, no one should be able to lay a finger on the baby Fallen.
What do you think about the hype around the little Fallen? Did you even notice the new weapons and activities in the trailer, or did the Destiny version of Baby Yoda melt your frostbitten heart? Let us know in the comments.
