Lost sectors in Destiny 2 are the only place where you can earn Exotics specifically. A Sunbreaker Titan has now managed to complete a legendary Lost Sector in just 34 seconds for Platinum.
Since Beyond Light, new (as well as old) Exotics hide for Destiny 2 players in Lost Sectors. Depending on the active sector and the current difficulty level of the day, players are regularly on the hunt for Exotics they still miss or where they want differently distributed armor stats.

It seems that it is sufficient to take down the first two unstoppable champions to still achieve the Platinum completion of the activity and thus better chances at the loot. Additionally, there are also fewer champions in total because the sector was not played at Grandmaster. Not all champions had spawned yet.
