A player shoulders a mammoth task in Destiny 2, but is subsequently banned from the triumph leaderboard and the Destiny Sub-Reddit for it. But why?

What happened? The “Black Armory” DLC has released all its content, and Season 5 only offers Guardians the Crimson Week. Many are now focusing more on long-term goals like titles, seals, and triumphs.

A few days ago, a Guardian in Destiny 2 managed to unlock all triumphs and seals currently available in the game. Due to bugs, the complete 100% is currently not possible.

After initially being praised by the community for this supposed achievement, a controversial discussion arose about the earning of some triumphs. This debate ultimately led to the player being banned from the Light.gg leaderboards and the Destiny Sub-Reddit.

What makes this achievement so special? When this achievement became known on Reddit, there was a flood of praise and recognition from other users. The thread quickly received over 4,000 upvotes. This is a true mammoth task that requires a lot of time, dedication, and luck.

The triumphs require mastering a wide range of tasks across all areas of Destiny 2 and are partly heavily reliant on chance. Fans have eagerly awaited who would achieve this first. Accordingly, the initial feedback was very positive.

What was the problem with this achievement? With his success, the player climbed to rank 1 on the triumph leaderboard on light.gg, a well-known database and tracking site for Destiny 2. But shortly after, some skeptical fans examined the player’s account in more detail and found some discrepancies.

It came to light that the PvP performances of the player in Quickplay and in the competitive playlist varied greatly. He apparently earned the title “Unbroken” with a dominant playstyle and fought for 5,500 points for the final glory rank. However, his history in Quickplay was anything but convincing.

How was the cheating discovered? The community came to the conclusion that someone else must have taken over the competitive part in PvP on his account – whether it was someone he knows or a boosting service provider. Also, the teammates in the competitive list had neither played before nor after with him.

With this realization, some community members confronted the player. After initially resisting, he ultimately admitted that others had played on his and other involved accounts to help him reach the 5,500 glory points.

This then resulted in the ban on light.gg and in the Destiny Sub-Reddit.

This is what fans say after the ban: Numerous fans welcome this step. They see it as the best way to respond to such behavior. Some even called for a ban from Bungie, as the player had also violated the terms of service.

Even the founder of light.gg believes that this is cheating and that the player does not belong on the leaderboards – even if he likely earned many of the triumphs himself. They will now work on mechanisms to detect such irregularities more quickly.

However, some fans also pointed out that even if this is cheating, it does not warrant a witch hunt that apparently took place in parts. Insulting, threatening, spamming, or publicly shaming the affected player is not an adequate response from parts of the community. The founder of light.gg shares this opinion and emphasizes it clearly in his statement.
