In Destiny 2, a Guardian is making headlines for helping dozens of gamers through what is likely the hardest activity in the game. The community celebrates their hero, reminding them of the early days of Destiny.
This is about the hero: Some players of Destiny 2 must have been quite surprised when they wanted to tackle the new “,”ultimate challenge” and suddenly received lifesaving support from an unknown player.
The user soulfullmirror reports (via reddit) how he helped numerous players as a sniper for hours. Interestingly, he was not in a team with his protégés and just wanted to help others in need.
How did the hero help? Recently, the new difficulty level “Top-tier” has been active in Destiny 2’s Fire Trials – a special version of the Nightfall strikes. With an abundance of negative modifiers, the accustomed Nightfall strikes become brutally challenging, pushing even seasoned players to their limits.
Just to name a few of the hurdles:
- There are more and stronger enemies
- Enemies have extra shields that can almost only be broken by the corresponding element
- There are no checkpoints – too many deaths send players back to orbit
- A kind of time limit forces rapid advancement
- Players regenerate health only to a limited extent
In addition, at this time, the probably
least favorite strike in Destiny history was active: “Exodus Crash.” There, you have to fight your way through an area patrolled by enemy vehicles. These so-called mosquitoes can damage your vehicle in seconds.
In the normal rotation, teammates often leave the hated strike right from the start. However, in the Fire Trials, only one strike is active for the entire week – those who want to prove themselves must push through.
This is what rescue looked like: This nightmarish mission typically takes place in its own instance but occasionally switches to a public zone. Our hero made use of this fact and took out the annoying mosquitoes for hours, allowing Nightfall players to have an easier start:

Since he is not part of the squads he helps, he is also not affected by the negative modifiers. According to his own account, he had equipped the in-game title “Savior” – he certainly lives up to that name with his actions.
The heroic deed reminds of the early days of Destiny
This is how the community reacts: On reddit, the “Savior” is rewarded with thousands of upvotes and the Guardians celebrate their new hero:
Not all heroes wear capes. […] We actually almost wiped this week in our Top-tier run due to the damn mosquitoes.

Overall, the post brings good vibes to players and reminds them of the sometimes forgotten social aspects of Destiny. It even brings back memories of the glorious early days of Destiny 1 and the first raid.
One user writes: “It reminds me of how people helped each other with the opening of the Vault of Glass in the patrol area on Venus.” The legendary raid also started in a public area. It was good form to provide fire protection to Guardians who were diving into the adventure.
This is what the hero himself says: The Savior expresses his gratitude and is touched by the positive response. With his actions, he also got something for himself: his exotic sniper rifle Borealis leveled up to a complete masterpiece:

He also announced that he would repeat his action and level up with another exotic sniper for the good cause.
What do you think of the action? Would you have wished for such powerful help in the Fire Trials? By the way, the Savior could have leveled his sniper significantly faster and more easily at one of the Top-5 farm spots – but that was not the focus of his deed.
