Bungie is deploying Hotfix 1.0.6.2 to the PC version of Destiny 2 today, on November 6th. This update aims to fix massive issues introduced by the last update.
Last week, Bungie released the PC-specific Hotfix 1.0.6.1 for download. This was meant to address an issue with the clan overview and a problem with performance drops.
The clan overview is now working perfectly, but as countless Guardians report: the performance issues are now significantly worse. In other words, while one problem has been resolved, a new, even bigger annoyance has been introduced.
These performance issues manifest as Destiny 2 stuttering severely. There are reports of “micro-freezes.” They are so severe that the game can freeze for up to a second at times.
Bungie announced a few hours after the update: They are aware of the “frame rate stuttering” and are investigating it. Today, on November 6th, this stuttering will be fixed.
Update 1.0.6.2 – All Information
No maintenance work with server downtime is announced. Here are the details that Bungie provides:
- Destiny 2 on PC will receive Hotfix 1.0.6.2 on November 6th.
- Once the hotfix is available, you will be returned to the login screen – but only after you have finished your ongoing activity.
- Some PC players may also need to close and restart Destiny 2 to download the hotfix.
- If you have installed the hotfix and want to form a fireteam with Guardians who have not yet installed the hotfix, the Sheep error code may occur.
- Hotfix 1.0.6.2 will not be released for consoles PS4 and Xbox One.
A specific time for the hotfix is not mentioned. It is likely to go live late in the afternoon or in the evening locally.
The full patch notes for 1.0.6.2 will be released once the update is available. So far, Bungie only shares that it will address the hitching issues introduced with 1.0.6.1. This refers to the stuttering.
Let’s hope that this hotfix does not introduce new problems.
