In Destiny 2, the weapon “Cold Front” is not functioning as intended. Guardians are asking Bungie to leave the bug in the game. However, the developers have awakened from their winter slumber and announced a patch.
What kind of weapon is this? “Cold Front” is a legendary kinetic submachine gun from the “Dawning Event.” It’s nothing special by itself, if not for a bug.
The weapon can – for reasons unknown – be found with the perk “Dragonfly.” This is a kind of God Roll, the best possible version of the weapon.
With the perk “Dragonfly,” enemies explode on headshots, and this explosion deals elemental damage around them. Weapons with this perk have always been popular in the history of Destiny because they allow for great mob clear and simply feel awesome when blowing up enemies.
Guardians have loved such weapons since they first found the “Fatebringer,” one of the first cult weapons in Destiny 1.
However, Cold Front probably does not have the perk “Dragonfly” at all because “kinetic weapon” cannot deal elemental damage. Therefore, the “explosion” effect on Cold Front also looks kind of buggy.
“Hot Tip for Bungie: Just Leave the Weapon Alone”
This is how Guardians reacted to the bug: Guardians noticed Cold Front with Dragonfly and discussed the weapon (via reddit). It was seen as a kind of secret tip: The weapon is fun and a blast – much better than last year. Because this year, the event weapon came into play with new perks.
However, the weapon didn’t remain particularly long a secret. A video by KackisHd received over 188,000 views: “This weapon is illegal.”
A Guardian said: “Hot tip for Bungie. Leave the weapon as it is. This is new, unique, and worth grinding for. Please do not trip over yourselves again.”
The community believes Bungie tends to:
- Fix bugs that Guardians exploit quickly
- Leave bugs that harm Guardians in the game longer
However, since there hasn’t been any news from Bungie for a while, people thought Cold Front was safe. Wrong thought.
Bungie Will Remove Dragonfly from Every Cold Front and Replace It
This is what Bungie is doing: For weeks, there has been no news from Bungie. They were deeply in winter slumber. However, things are coming back to life. The new head of Destiny, Joe Blackburn, has spoken up and stated: In one of the next patches, every Cold Front with Dragonfly will be changed. Dragonfly will then be replaced with “Wrangler” (a perk for damage increase).
Blackburn adds: He regrets that this was only announced so late. At Bungie, they try to keep the Christmas holidays sacred.
