On May 11, the starting gun was fired for the 2nd raid lair “The Leviathan” from the Warmind DLC for Destiny 2. A lot of Guardians competed in the race for the first raid completion worldwide. After just six and a half hours, the new final boss fell. However, only a few managed to get through the new passage on the first day.
Race for the World-First. On May 11 at 7:00 PM, the Leviathan opened its gates for the Guardians. The race for the World-First raid clear in the Warmind DLC was on. Many players attempted the new raid section.

But most failed. Less than 1% of the participating Guardians made it through the raid on the first day. After a proud 6 hours and 38 minutes, however, the first team succeeded in sending the raid boss Val Ca’uor to the beyond.
Raid Lair “The Leviathan” is still too hard for most
Why was it so difficult? Most players certainly envisioned the journey to the Leviathan differently. Out of nearly 130,000 participating Guardians, only 105 managed to tackle the new raid lair on the first day. More than 99% failed this task.
Before the launch of the 2nd raid section, it was suspected that the recommended power level would be set between 340 and 350. Accordingly, many fans started the new raid motivated and confident. To everyone’s surprise, however, the recommended level was actually at 370. Most players did not meet this requirement at the launch.
Some still made it to the boss. But it was at that point that the limit was reached for most. The final encounter appears to be even harder set at the power level of 380.
This made it impossible for most players to successfully master the final part. Because they were mostly far below that. Many gave up in frustration. They were not well enough equipped for this encounter.
Community Manager DeeJ found the right “comforting” words on Twitter: “Days like today are what happens when the community says this game is too easy.”
Who was the first to complete it? Ultimately, the new raid lair was cracked. After 6 hours and 38 minutes, the Redeem clan became the first group in the world to defeat the final boss. This was confirmed by Bungie on Twitter.
For comparison: Players needed about 7 hours for the much more extensive Oryx raid “King’s Fall” from Destiny 1.
The Redeem clan is already known for other achievements in Destiny 2. For example, this group was the first to complete the raid section of the Spire of Stars with only 3 members. Later, they even achieved this feat with 2 players.
How does the community react? The Guardian community has mixed feelings about the Leviathan.
On one hand, many players find it good that the endgame is finally living up to its reputation. It is hard and truly only intended for high-level characters. Bungie finally found a good balance here.
On the other hand, many are complaining that the recommended power level has been set too high in their eyes. This is artificially stretching the thin content, according to them.
What do you think about the new raid lair? How far have you managed to get?
