In Destiny 2 there are new challenges in the current raid “The Oath of the Student”. We explain what this is and especially how to master the challenge “Basic Information”.
What is a raid challenge? All raids in Destiny 2 are a demanding group activity and are therefore part of the endgame. Players face tricky puzzles together in raids, overcome jumping passages, and ultimately defeat the toughest bosses, who then drop prestigious weapons and armor.
For those who find this not enough, they can also face a so-called challenge in a raid. While they still involve the classic raid mechanics, they also restrict certain play styles, requiring players to often adjust their team tactics to master them.
All challenges usually take place in a specific raid encounter or phase. In the raid “Oath of the Student” there are a total of four such encounters – the jumping passages are excluded.
How to succeed in the challenge “Basic Information”
This is the second encounter: The raid challenge “Basic Information” takes place in the second phase of the Witch Queen raid “The Oath of the Student” during the so-called “Caretaker,” as the community affectionately calls it. Officially, however, this is the encounter of the Caretakers.
Previously, you had to pick up specific bounties from Hawthorne, but that has changed. The challenge is automatically active at the start of the raid. You will see the relevant information at the bottom left when you start the raid.
To specifically complete the challenge “Basic Information,” you may only collect and redeem one symbol for the obelisks. If you fail to do so, you will receive the notification “Challenge Failed.” To try again, you can simply die to restart the encounter.

Tips for the Challenge
The challenge can be easily mastered if two runners take turns entering the room with the symbols. Like in a relay race, you alternate, pick up a symbol, and then redeem it at the obelisk. Always keep the door open for your partner so you don’t waste valuable time.
Also, keep in mind that you should ignore every enemy in the room with the symbols. They are only there to slow you down and ensure that you get overwhelmed by the Darkness faster.
Since there is no limit to how many symbols a player can pick up per rotation, the only restricting factor is that you can only carry one symbol at a time. For this reason, it’s good to send as many people as possible into the dark room to quickly delete the symbols.
What do you get as a reward? If you successfully master the challenge, there is bonus loot. In addition to the standard chest at the end of the encounter, another chest will appear after a short time. This chest also contains top-tier gear. So it’s worth the effort.
Since each encounter provides you with special loot, this means that for this challenge, you can either get the “Resonance Fury” helmet, the gauntlets, or a class item, or the submachine gun “Submission,” the grenade launcher “Dissent,” as well as the linear fusion rifle “Catastrophic” and the pulse rifle “Insidious”.
